I've done the Mag quest too, but it was before it turned into an Epic quest. I want my line
Morshoth2010-01-12 20:44:55
Seven hours each time, and you have to do it five times total, yes.

You can do yours in seven hours?
Nerf please. Magnagora's takes about twelve, Celest's about nine (Magnagora's might theoretically take nine if the mutts repopped every 45m rather than 1 hour, I suppose). The communes, of course, take 32 hours apiece, but with more burst effort rather than continual.
EDIT: This isn't really a serious call for a nerf, nor an invitation for mass discussion - if you want that, start a new thread! It's more like perspective.

Celest's quest takes nine hours theoretically. However because the Inner Sea is so big and there's only exactly enough squid for one spire, it often drags on to at least ten hours, not including having to look for the seahorse.

That's sort of like Hallifax. Theoretically, it doesn't take nearly as long as it does in practice. It's bad enough that comptrollers get lost easily, but sometimes they reset/teleport completely so even if you do it completely systematically, you miss some. Also, sometimes custodians reset once you've got them following you so you have to wait another hour or so just to get them laidback again.
Also, the Hand quest trumps all other epic quests in terms of amount of work needed. There's also the fact that you can spend RL days on it just to have it completely reset because the other side finished theirs first.

Isn't that what a tracker is for? Or can they not seek the seahorse?

You mean, like the sea battle? Only, the Hand quest doesn't have a "you can't do this for X days" afterwards, does it?

It has a "Can't work in winter" and "can't work while fighting each other" type thing though.
Rika2010-01-12 21:25:31
Also, there's a 15 minute quest that stops you for hours. Great fun.

I think Celests side of the sea battle trumps that because it's so easy for Mag to steal it in the last five minutes but much much harder for us to do the sames.
That is, as I understand it they can convert dolphins to seawolves, we can convert back but dolphins aren't as 'helpful' as turtles, which take AGES.

It works both ways. You can bash out the seawolves at the last minute and do the very simple quest to make dolphins immortal.

No, but both sides start over from scratch and it takes IRL days to do it, even when the two sides aren't screwing each other up and slowing down the process and have people working to as close to round the clock as is feasible.

And the sea battle only lets 1 side do it period, per battle. Only the side that wins it, and they can only do it once. So it can potentially be days of battling to make turtles / wolves, and has a one-per-cycle limit. Unlike the Hand.
Rika2010-01-12 23:00:33
I'd rather know that I'm not allowed to do the Hand than to spend IRL days doing it just to have it reset.

I'm going to give ya'll a piece of advice.
We're not changing the epic quests at this time.
So stop hijacking the raves thread over it

At this point I don't think we're asking for them to be changed, just determining which one is the worst (it's totally Celests)

I think I'll rave a bit for Glom's. The 32 hour limit is obnoxious, but there is at least some semblance of variety and diversity in what needs to be done, and it is significantly more atmospheric and flavourful than gathering squid or binge bashing mutts for hours.

Please be adviced that you can 'beckon' mobiles that you have previously influenced and have stopped following you.

Did anyone else know that?? Thanks for letting us (or at least me) know though!
