Aren't aethership battles kind of rare? It'd be cool if there were more of them!

I too, rave for shooting down a ship that tried to spawn a ton of gargs on us to begin with, making us hunt them down to get our dust back.

I know I should be mad about you killing Serens, but in this case I totally believe you and I have to thank you for doing it.

This is true... 40-odd gargantuans roaming around Faethorn is good for no one. Still I want to know who was the pilot that abandoned ship.

So do I. suspicious.gif

Besides, aether battles aren't griefing. They're an opportunity for testing underused functions.
Unknown2010-07-12 20:42:01
Well, Ijen and Bartal were talking about going aetherhunting at the Moonhart and I don't think anyone went with them, so... my guess is it was only ever just those two. Ijen was probably the pilot.

If no one goes with them, it's not an aetherhunt. It's either griefing other ships or going to an aetherbubble. We now know which one it was.
Noola2010-07-12 20:45:37
Can two people even aetherhunt? I mean, don't you need at least three? Remember I've never really been, but seems you'd need a pilot, a gunner and an empath, right?

Wait so he was piloting, and when when we showed up after tracking them half way across aetherspace his first move is to unlock and switch to a turret? laugh.gif

I guessed right. superninja.gif

Rave for essence being worth 5 power. I love having the feeling that my essence harvesting actually makes a difference and that I'm not just wasting my time bashing out Elemental rather than Muud or something.

But I'm probably deluding myself.

No idea, truthfully! I don't think anyone else went with them, but I wasn't paying attention to CWHO or whatever to keep track, and my Serenguard doesn't have Thirdeye to see who all is idling around the nexus.

I want statpacks so my RP race doesn't mean I can't do Muud or Catacombs by myself basically ever. sad.gif

In case you didn't know: aside from Aetolia having them first... Imperian has statpacks now, too. ninja.gif Yes. The PEEKAY MUD of IRE got a huge RP device before Lusternia did.

And there was much (possibly justified) bitching on the forums about how it would wreck game balance because of previous design philosophies, but Garryn got it put in anyway.

I know. It makes me sad. I love the spec race system, but I'd trash it in an instant for stat packs. Also, Guardian classes get +int, which they usually don't need or want, so even if Ackleberry comes out and furrikin are the spec race, I just expect to end up with something like 17 int and 14 dex.
Noola2010-07-12 21:02:25
How are statpacks an RP device? Seems like it would take away from the point of a race to me. So, you decided to be Faeling, but your stat pack has made you completely different than a faeling is supposed to be. So, why're you even a faeling?
Unknown2010-07-12 21:02:47
You think that if the Achaea admins add statpacks to their game, Estarra will finally cave? suspicious.gif

EDIT @ Noola:

That's part of the idea of a statpack. By divorcing a race from its stats, you're free to play whatever class/race combo you feel like without worrying about being screwed over for bashing/combat/influencing. In the case of both Aetolia and Imperian, though, all races retained some special characteristics that made the choice of race still moderately important: Atavians are still the only Aetolian race that can fly without an arti or class skill, and Kohdon can still tailsweep people in Imperian, for example.
Everiine2010-07-12 21:10:59
Fixed stats are a much better RP device than stat packs in my opinion. You have to work to overcome the limitations of your race in order to succeed. Faelings shouldn't be better than Igasho at smashing things. Lucidian shouldn't be able to move as fast as Aslaran. Trill should have a higher charisma than Illithoid. It all makes sense.

Except for Merian, which currently suck at everything ninja.gif .

I agree! Well, except for the Merian part, cause I don't know nothin bout Merians. laugh.gif

But, IMO, statpacks are just trying to have your cake and eat it too.
