My reason is simply that the kephera have developed in the Undervault FAR away from the culture that developed above ground. Why would they automatically speak the same language? Why would they oh so happen to develop the EXACT SAME language that is spoken above ground? Quite a conincidence... and way too much of one imho.
Please give them a racial language, it makes no sense that they have none.

Isn't their 'racial language'... psychic communication? They "learned" Common during the event where they were introduced to the Basin at large. And the Illithoid already have the ability to "psychically understand any spoken language" (too bad they didn't have that during the event...

We all already have some form of psychic communication anyways (tells), so it's a bit hard to introduce it. There really doesn't seem to be a spoken aspect to the thing (just go sit in a Kephera hive and watch for the workers listening to unheard summons, or something of the sort).
