(B)Ardmore made a go of it as well and got a few kills in
It is generally considered a poor choice for combat oriented bards though. Sure you'll get the jump on some people not expecting a bard to be using tarrot but the skill sets really don't complement each other.

Each City/Commune has a race that is affiliated with it.
Celest - Merian
Magnagora - Viscanti
Serenwilde - Elfen
Glomdoring - Faeling
Though you could play one anywhere it isn't always appreciated..I as a member of glomdoring wouldn't want Merian Viscanti or Elfens around..
Edit: Saying that once you have proved yourself for Glomdoring race isn't really important at all..

Actually, both Elfen and Faeling are the 'elite' for both communes. Elfen for being the natural guardians of fae in general (Moon, Night, Stag, Crow are all fae spirits), and Faeling for being partly fae.
Go elfen Glomdoring!
silimaur2008-10-22 13:18:23
Elfen still = Bad in my book in Glomdoring and i know there are others that agree.
However as has been stated by me and others in the end race means nothing once you prove your ability to blindly serve Glomdoring

Questions:
1. Are any of the classes sort of similarish to other IRE ones (mechanics that is.. not talking skill names)?
2. Is momentum a good change, a successful thing?
3. Are there other skills (archetype or other) which have similarly interesting mechanical concepts?
4. I'm gathering there is more to 'illusions' as a skill than just "conjure illusion"?
5. What are bards like?
6. Is influence a replacement for normal kill-bashing, and if so, is it a good replacement, worth getting, better for some classes etc?
7. Are some classes easier (combat wise) to get into at entry level (i.e. as a newb, don't worry about skills)
8. Are some classes cheaper/more expensive to get into?
9. Are any classes particularly awful to bash as? (I'm not out to pick the BEST bashing class, but I'd certainly like to avoid any that are truly horrible.)
10. Some classes are typically better at 1 vs 1, while others have advantages in world pvp (raids, skirmishes, whatever..) Its been a fair while since I've had a character with a good amount of group utility skills. I wouldn't mind being useful again.. do any classes pring to mind that I should avoid on these grounds?
Any answers/opinions/advice will be much appreciated, and thankyou ahead of time to anyone that answers.

1. No. The Wound System makes physical classes WAY different from the other IRE games. Demesne are only partly like vibes, Bards rely on music far more and Guardian/Wicca use an entity for pretty much half their offense. They're not like anything I've seen in any other game.
2. I'd say it is too early to give a proper answer to that question. All kinks haven't been worked out, and people are still getting used to the new system.
3. Well, "interesting" will depend on the person. Warriors have the wounds system, which monks have too. And that is interesting. As I said, Wicca and Guardian rely on NPCs to get in most of their offense. The demesne is something you'll want to experience for yourself, and bards have songs which can be very fun to play around with. Personally, I find every guild interesting.
4. Illusions are FAR more here in Lusternia. Check the Scryingpool that I gather you've already found.
5. Fun. And pretty well described already, so I won't bother to echo it.
6. Influence is a decent replacement for bashing. It is a great alternative for bards who already have pretty high charisma, and it can be worth getting, especially for revolts. Influencing is very good at lower levels, and very bad at higher levels, and generally better than regular bashing for Guardians/Wiccan/Druid/Mage.
7. None that stand out.
8. You can enter combat the quickest with Monks and Warriors, since their offense relies mainly on one class skill. The other classes will require a higher initial investment to get in, but if you want to reach the top tier, Warriors are the most expensive due to their reliance on several weapons, armour and weapon runes.
9. Druid/Guardian/Wicca = Terribad.
10. Druid/Mage are very useful in a group because of the demesne. Bards have songs that are useful for groups. Knights are usually the last target because of their tankiness.
Well, those are my thoughts at least. I hope they're useful.

Wiccan isn't terrible at bashing. Druid is, guardians are, magi are unless they're TK.
silimaur2008-10-23 08:34:20
Depends what race you are as wicca..being mugwump was squishy before..now im slower and still squishy
Kiradawea2008-10-24 17:12:08
I thought it went Warrior>Monk>Bard>Wicca/Mage>>Guardian/Druid?

Are you ranking them in terms of power? Or the cost to play them? ... Or both?

Bashing ability, I believe.

Thanks, but I was being facetious.
Rika2008-10-24 19:24:05
Come on, you know if that was cost, monks would be way down the bottom and warriors are so far ahead, they wouldn't fit on the same scale.

I figured you were, I just like to reiterate how unbalanced bashing is at every opportunity.

I read none of this thread. That said: Bard. They're super fun. Once Xiel seduces me sexually there will be no other reason for me NOT to join Spiritsingers (hinthint)
