not sure if this has been posted before, but whatever I don't feel like searching through the forums for it..
here we go.
A language for each guardian guild, since the deal making pacts and bond, etc whatever you want to call with other planar beings why not being able to speak there native language, would seem more respectful to the lords of those particular planes.
Nihilists: speak Demonic -Description = A language so vile and disturbing those of lesser composure would cower in fear.
Celestines: speak Angelic -Description = A language of such powerfully charming and musical tones that others can do naught but listen to such words.
Moondancers and Shadowdancers: speak Fae -Description = A language of childish sounding mutterings and giggling laughter that makes one not help but smile.

This has been brought up before. If I recall correctly, the consensus was that they wouldn't be used enough to warrant their input. Heck, current languages are barely used either.

No new languages until Trill get one! I'd settle for them sharing Lucidian!
Arin2008-10-21 08:28:15
*eye* why would birdies share language with crystallies
Doman2008-10-21 08:45:15
Cuz they lived in the same city?
Arin2008-10-21 10:51:51
That'd be more like a city language rather than racial...

They're historically very close.

Hey we have a crow language now, so this has a good chance .

Obviously your mother never taught you about the birds and the diamonds.

Sorry for the random necro, but would this mean that we'd see the shadow tongue and moonspeak?

No, it probably would mean we'd see deer tongue (we'd probably would still need that ruddy torc to speak to them though ) as there is Crow tongue in the Communes so far.

I agree whole-heartedly... but Trill need their own rather than sharing with the Lucidian. *chirp*?
Throw one to the humans and a hyper-evolved one to the Viscanti as well.
Forget the Illithoid, they already have Mindsense. =/
Edit: Oh, and yes, give Shadowdancers and Moondancers languages, too. Some variation of Fae, each guild with their own touch. More hissing-like for the Shadowdancers, and chime-like for the Moondancers, mayhaps? And, if that happens, create more uses for a unique language like that. So far, the only use I can think of for the Shadowdancers is the phrase to enter the guildhall.

For some reason, I imagine the SD's to have a more guttural language, perhaps, than hissing.

Really?
Shadowdancers should have an incredibly deep, smooth, seductive voice (considering how 'languages' work in the game).

Sure. Maybe deep for the males, melodic for the females, in modification.
We agree on the Moondancer chiming, though?

I just wanted to make it clear the Shadowdancers aren't the gutter-serpent type of evil. They're the super-smooth Barry White type evil (thanks Casilu).

You -could- try starting in the game and working your way up if the admin take notice. It'll be a lot of work, but you never know where it will end up.
Rancoura2008-11-25 00:24:33
Well, we've already had a few dabblings in Fae language, as well as Nocht having words in the dialect all over His shrines.
Aison2008-11-25 00:26:56
Sounds like you have at least a general idea of where it could go, and Nocht might be able to help out.
