Also, just judging from the 360 vs. PS3 gamespot pages, the content for the 360 looks far superior.
Like I said, once game developers actually learn how to thread properly for the PS3...

I've heard that the PS3 is improved over the PS2 on quality control issues, but I'm still pissed off at Sony for the fact that I've gone through 2 PS1's and 2 PS2's. I would probably pick the 360 based on that alone. My friend has PS3 and he's enjoyed it a lot(I now have his old slim PS2). He has one of the few backward compatible PS3's.

They shouldn't have made it so hard to design for.

Pssh, how else can they get the processing power it has?

Both of the statements regarding future games for PS3 are rather inaccurate. Multiplatform games will still be aimed at the lowest common denominator rather than the power of the PS3. It's not just a "they don't understand how to use the power yet" type of thing. At best, the next MGS game and the next God of War game will both be utilizing the higher power of the PS3, but beyond that? Not much.

Got my first 360 for Christmas (love my wife!) and returned it New Year's Day (yes, one week later) to exchange it because the drive tray stopped reading discs. Exchanged my second one after about eight months because of the RRoD, and I upgraded to the Elite while I was at it. The MS warranty has improved, but service through them is still painfully slow and iffy from what I hear. So glad my wife bought the Best Buy extended warranty on this thing. Five minutes in the store and I've got my brand new system.
Agreed. The asymmetric processor design is biting them in the proverbial backside. The 360 has the better architecture and tools, but at least the PS3 doesn't require writing your game in Assembly like the PS2!
Hey, Sony! Could you please just include an IR port in the PS3 already? (Stupid bluetooth remotes.) kthxbai.

... there will be a superior next gen xbox with lots of games for it. Don't be naive, it's kinda too late for that.
Btw, I've just seen some news that Fallout 3 looks the worst on PS3, even X version looks better.

Acrune2008-10-24 21:30:03
Definitely 360, its cheaper, and has better games. I got the red ring of death once, but I fixed it myself by removing my hard drive and putting it back on until it worked. Go me.

I suggest looking at the games that are going to come out in December/January/February, and make your decision based on those games.
That should really tell you where the system is headed in terms of content availablity.
You really need to either pick the games you like better, or just buy both
Without an HDtv, or a Computer monitor to hook the PS3 up to, you are probably wasting money on the PS3

I'll say PS3 if only because I have no love for anything Microsoft. It is possible to get a backwards compatible system, you just need to put yourself on a waiting list at your local gameshop.

Compare:
http://ps3.gamespy.com/index/release.html?...urn_all=is_true
With:
http://xbox360.gamespy.com/index/release.h...urn_all=is_true
And also look at 4th Q of 2008. But I think those game titles are slighly less important in terms of giving you an idea of which system will have the games you want.

..why would you have to have a HDTV for a PS3? That's just stupid. I have a normal 36 or 39" TV and I wouldn't discredit the PS3 any because it's not HD.

The image quality just isn't there I thought. its like playing a Pc game on 800x600 instead of 1600x1240
Vathael2008-10-24 23:01:42
You can't really compare console games on a television to 800X600 on a PC. It's just not the same.
