When did people start growing up with Playstation? huh.gif

Well, I'm 20 and I consider myself to have "grown up with playstation." FF7 came out when I was like 9, you realise.

The same way a person grows up on "Nintendo", they're young and they've had a console from the company for the majority of their time it's been there.

Obviously I know the mechanics of growing up with something. tongue.gif

Just weird to see it as being the Playstation now.

It is odd, I actually went back and experienced the SNES via zsnes so I can say I grew up with both in reverse order. I'm actually waiting for when people start playing this game who are younger than FF7. That'll be interesting.

I 'grew up' with the playstation as well. It was my first video game console, and I got it when I was about 7, IIRC.
And yes, ME is terrible. That's why we got XP. I've made $$ off of ME too. My uncle paid me to restore his computer when it crashed(ME doesn't crash, right?)

EDIT: WTF? I changed my Avatar, and it's still the same. The control panel shows my new avatar, but my posts are showing my old one(guy with tin foil hat on).
EDIT2: Okay, fixed now, had to reset my cache.

I grew up on my Genesis.

My first system was an Atari 2600, then a NES.

My first handheld: Game Gear

My first console: Xbox. Parents didnt want me hogging the tv tongue.gif

My first memory of a game was with this kid you control who killed stuff by bonking his head into the enemy. I think it might have been Atari.
Unknown2008-10-25 05:32:23
Atari was my first. First handheld was Game and Watch.

Then I got Nintendo. Then the original Gameboy. Then Gamegear. SNES. Sega Genesis. Virtual Boy. Playstation. Then Gameboy Pocket. Gameboy Color. Sega Saturn. Nintendo 64. Gameboy Advance. Gameboy Advance SP. Nintendo DS. Nintendo DS Lite. Wii.

biggrin.gif I still have every single one of those, too.

Age - 21

First Console - Atari (Not sure which flavor)

Favorite game for the system - Galaxian (Galaga prequel)

Grew up with - Nintendo

As for which system to get, that's ultimatly, and totally your choice. I picked the PS3 because a lot of the game series I liked were on the PS1 and ps2,

Suikoden, Disgaea, Legaia, .hack//, .hack//G.U., Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Mega Man.

And if you can get a PS3 with backwards compatibilty, I've only ran into a few games where the graphics seem worse then I remember them. But I think it's because I only had analog video and audio with the PS2, I've found some games even run faster (With upscaler off) on my PS3. MGS 2 is one of them.

unfourtinatly for me, it seems most of the RPGs and other series I like have been on the Xbox 360 or on both.

Also, I am not enjoying this new generation of games nor am I looking foward to where this is headed. But I blame DLC for that one... but that's another rant altogether.

Well should sayI grew up with Sega then super nintendo and n64. But I really started gaming with the playstation era. Needless to say; Never owned an Xbox never will

I must be an antique to some of you kids then. My first "console" was the original Pong system! After that, we had Intellivision, which was the cheaper version of what all my friends had: either Atari 2600 or Colecovision.

As for backwards compatibility, I agree that Sony took it out so they could keep selling PS2 units, though their official reasoning was to save production costs by removing the extra hardware. The PS3 originally had half a PS2 inside it, including the Emotion Engine chip. They said that they were working on 100% software emulation and would once again provide backwards compatibility, but I'm pretty sure that's just a pipe dream.

As for online connectivity, I feel that any console is so much less interesting and useful without it. I hardly play games online with other people, partially by choice, but there's a lot of downloadable content, updates, and other things that I find extremely interesting.

So wait, what do I need to do to get wireless internet on an XBOX 360 is if I can't directly connect to my router? sad.gif
Shiri2008-10-25 12:44:25
An extra £50 wireless adapter, apparently.

(Ilyarin can you run American games on your xbox)
Ilyarin2008-10-25 12:45:57
I don't know, I haven't got it yet. I've actually been toiling over the same decision as you in the last few months, but I've not decided to go for the XBOX. Will be a bummer to have to get that adapter as well, but I guess it just has to be done!
Unknown2008-10-25 16:32:14
I've actually been toying with the idea of getting a second Xbox 360 (for my wife, so we can play co-op on certain games), but even going with the cheapest one I still have to remember the extra $100 for the wireless adapter. Not quite worth $300 to us just so we can play a few more games together (or so she can actually have something to play when I'm bogarting the living room entertainment system).

Also, HD gaming is amazing! My current setup started with the original Xbox (borrowed from a friend for two years who had lots of money and little free time) and a 27" standard TV. I upgraded the console to the 360 and saw a marked improvement in the graphics. However, when I upgraded my TV to a 50" plasma (1080p), I was blown away by the clarity! It's actually improved my ability to play most of my games just because I can make out important details that were too fuzzy to recognize before. Heh. Took me about 10 years to gradually build up this whole entertainment system, but I'm pretty much in love with it now.

They made money, so clearly they are evil and it is "in" to hate them.

Oh, btw, 360.
Stangmar2008-10-25 18:29:44
Btw, when you use a PS3 on a regular tv, it looks like utter crap. You can't hardly make out any of the text, it's worse than playing on a PS1 in that regard. Other graphics are alright, but text doesn't show very clear. Unless there's a setting to display in regular def(probably is for all i know), but he fails at life too much to figure that out, and I frankly don't give a censor.gif
