Well, I'm 20 and I consider myself to have "grown up with playstation." FF7 came out when I was like 9, you realise.
I remember playing the original Final Fantasy, and I'm not that much older than you.

Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong person, but aren't you like 6 years older than me?
Anyway, I also consider myself to have grown up with games like sonic CD. Childhood is an extended period! 9 is well within acceptable range.

I'm 24.
Actually, one of my early childhood memories is of the original Final Fantasy. I must've been four or five at the time. I had a friend over, and we were playing video games. She asked how to play the one that I had on, and I tossed her the instruction booklet, and she said she couldn't read. It was the strangest thing to me. I'd never met someone who couldn't read before.

Btw, when you use a PS3 on a regular tv, it looks like utter crap. You can't hardly make out any of the text, it's worse than playing on a PS1 in that regard. Other graphics are alright, but text doesn't show very clear. Unless there's a setting to display in regular def(probably is for all i know), but he fails at life too much to figure that out, and I frankly don't give a
I knew it!

I thought I wrote this for a second. I remember the same exact thing!

I should go find a youtube of the amusing OP theme that game had. I still remember half the lyrics. "You can reach the other side, of the rainbow..."
EDIT: And you guys suck at voting, you could at least make it a clearer decision than 14/16.

Yeah, vagrant story suffered the same fate for me...
Ahh...nostalgia.
Also, I'm told xbox is NOT region free but PS3 is. ...but PS3 isn't backwards compatible. Argh. I guess I can just keep my old PS2.

If you don't mind a used one, you might find a PS3 with backwards capability, and PS1 games can be played on any of the PS3 models that I know of so far, as they're all done through Emulation and not hardware... but I'd just as soon download EpsxE and play my PS1 games on that. The Graphic plugin 'Pete's D3D Driver' can make most any 3-D ps1 game look better then any console can play them.
Abe's odyssey was not really 3-D an worked better with the soft drivers.

Can't find a lot of stuff using that, though I have for games that were never released in the UK like FFT and Chrono Cross.
Anyway, it's PS2 games I'm mainly interested in the backwards compatibility for, I have a bunch.

Keep the PS2, you're not going to get much $$ for it anyway, most likely.

I feel deprived... I have never owned a gaming system, unless you count the Nintendo Gameboy. Guessing this is uncommon for someone who plays a MUD?

Before I bought the wii, I never had a game system either. (well, I guess I had a nintendo, I think, I can't quite remember, cause I was never allowed to buy games, only rent them. And I think back then you could rent the game systems at blockbuster. I quite remember those carrying cases with big blockbuster logos on them.)

So I was playing Fable 2 and I led my spouse to the pit in the Temple of Shadows, spun the Wheel of Misfortune and received extra bonus "Evil Points" for consuming my third marriage in a ball of flame. Only 2000 points for the Ultimate Evil Reward. You can't get that on PS3 good sir.

I've never owned a non-handheld gaming system either, other than my computer/laptop. I do have an oldschool Gameboy Color and more recently an NDS, though.. And the main driving reason I bought both was to play Pokemon.

I'm looking up upcoming lists of exclusives, but between the internet thing, region-free capability and a couple other things I've been persuaded to go for a PS3, hopefully I won't end up regretting it.

Fable 2 FTW!! I haven't sacrificed a spouse quite yet, but I have sent a few street girls to their demise by beheading. I just wish the vendors sold more celery because all the mutton and pies are really slowing me down.
(Add me as an XBL friend! Unless you have, and I forgot your account name...)
