You can play in third person. It's the same engine as Oblivion.

Game is that short as it pertains to any sort of coherent story. You can roam around aimlessly and find random crap. I forced myself to go to every single vault for no good reason other than bobbleheads, but it did feel like more of a chore than fun.

Right, I was asking, if he had also done the side quests, and the game was still that short. (its possible!)

What I'm saying is, it's crazy short unless you aimlessly wander the map, and even then, it's still pretty short.

I liked Fallout 3. It had a semi-decent storyline, fun combat (gotta love the rock-it launcher). But I enjoyed Oblivion a lot more.

Were the radio towers and sat uplinks actually FOR anything? Turning every radio tower I could on did nothing. Same for power stations.

They fixed that actually. Crosshair works in TP, and you can always just VATS it
Anywho, I made a melee char with full Endurance, STR and INT(Bobbleheads and power armour factored in naturally). He got the Shishkebob, and now he's so beastly that when I put it on VH, I don't notice a difference in difficulty.

I've said it before, I"ll say it again: Harkness' Plasma Rifle and Grim Reaper's Sprint is obscenely overpowered. It's like me running a mower over newborn kittens. Even that bastard autumn and his hideously overpowered laser pistol fell in three shots.

It's pretty much retarded with any endgame named weapon. Try the named gatling laser you find in deathclaw sanctuary.
You know what I think is overpowered? Taking a pistol, 1% chance to hit VATS, firing one single VATS shot over and over until the mysterious stranger shows up and does the deed.

With my ranged char, I use the Lincoln Repeater and the Sprint. Essentially the same thing though.

Well. It took all morning and part of the afternoon, only interrupted by my usual two and a half hour gym session, but I killed everyone in fallout 3, and the vast bulk of the random encounters.

I knew what was coming since I Created this character just to kill people, so I essentially did what the original Vault Dweller did. Except that I don't remember the Original Overseer's head flying off in a trail of gore.
Then I reloaded the game, sabotaged it and THEN killed her and everyone else.
