Yep. Snow Phoenixes don't appear to be changed by diet. Just pure luck if you get something good.

Oh, I didn't notice the part about the rimed wings. Hmm. I was really hoping for something more... bizarre. Something like, well, I don't know. It would be interesting if it was fat or shy and not-so-shimmering, with droopy (and not slender) wings that didn't "refract" so much. Add a smidge of hoar frost, fluffy feathers (hey, snow is fluffy sometimes), some odd colored eyes, and another expression for its face/demeanor... and maybe something with that last line. Icy gales, frigid breezes, wisps of frost? I think that'd be fairly unique.

Soooo, I guess I'm feeding my phoenix oats/fruit/veg for the next 2 RL months.

Love the oat fruit veg diet for my beasties, never fails. I just have to make sure I reach that 145 per before zimoruing. Anything below that makes em bland.

Now I'm confused. After the beast reaches adulthood, giving it specific feeds affects the results from zimoru? I thought zimoru randomized it regardless of what it's been fed?

The appearance is semi-random both when it reaches adulthood and when you use a zimoru dose. The feeds always matter.

Zimoru basically makes it mature again. There's always some randomness, but what you've fed it effects the pool of traits that can pop up.

I've always had amazing things with fish but fish just doesn't seem to work for this one.

Ah, so all traits are possible but the different feeds affect the odds of having X trait. Too bad there's no reset button.

Speaking of raising/feeding/whatever beasts... Has anyone brought up beast breeding?
