Alright, sos, I'm having a tad of technical dilemna, which thus yields a Topic in here. Alright, here we go.

So, I use a Client called GMUD, (which, frankly, I'm rather shocked that so many people don't know about it, but oh well. I grew up with the old MUDS, and as such, use older Clients), and I was wondering how to set Aliases, for a start.

As a Celestine, (Sellal's the name), I come up with two major problems in Hunting: one is that Cosmicfire is way weaker than the Aquamancers Blast, (where I transferred from), and, as such, needs to be cast almost as soon as the Equilibrim is back in my head. The problem with this is that typing "abjure cosmicfire " gets rather tiring, and boring. Even though I CAN push the up arrow key, or use the Exclamation shortcut, I am constantly evoking pentagrams, chanting Puella, drinking Health and Mana Vials-y'know, the typical levelling Lusternian. Because I use two, three, or four actions in battle, pushing ! or the up arrow key is really inconvenient sometimes. So, I wanted to know how I could set an alias so that I could just type "blast " and summon a nice, awesome Cosmicfire and destroy mucho without even CLOSE to as much typing.

Also, any suggestions on any Systems you guys've found useful would be WONDERFUL-though don't expect me to know any clue of what you're talking about, or how to use it XD.

PS: YES, I have read the Helpfile-it just doesn't click. People explain things much better, and I'm one of the ones that needs that "extra depth".
PPS: I'm level 20-though that's bound to change very soon-I'm levelling like crazy in the Nexus World!

Yes, I have heard of GMUD. No, I wouldn't ever use it. It lacks many things I like in my MUD clients.

Ever heard of MUSHclient? It's free, open source even, and is much better supported.

What do you mean, open-sourced? And what's the difference between the two? Not to sound haughty, of course. It's just that I haven't used anything but GMUD, and since I can't use the Nexus (my Java is all odded up, for some reason), I'm stuck with using other Clients-which doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, from what I know ^^. Either way, what're the benefits?

Open source means that you can download the actual code for the client. Mushclient is open source, so you can go to the mushclient website, and download the code for mushclient that the author wrote.

For a full list of features, check out the website. But yeah, don't keep using one that's very outdated just because it's what you started with.

Ok! So, I downloaded MUSHClient (thanks for that, btw), and now I made my Alias! Wow, that was a LOT simpler than GMUD! Thanks guys! Any further questions and well....y'know XD.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you need, but remember that the more information you provide to us, the better the answers we'll give back to you. wink.gif

I started on GMud too, and I never looked back when I changed clients the first time. I remember how hard doing something as relatively simple as bashing dream leeches was. twitch.gif
