I could not stop looking at McCain's neck.

I dunno, I apparently missed something, but then again I was mainly listening and constantly refreshing election pages.

Lol @ Myrkr, I saw that on 4chan. Also, Mccain was so eloquent. I did not care for either candidate, but Mccain got a lot of points with his speech. Very poignant.
Yeah. His speech really was very nice. I don't dislike McCain as a person, I think he's got a good sense of humor. He's been on The Daily Show several times and that's always a plus in someone's column. I didn't want him as a President and especially when he picked that twit as VP. I'm very glad he lost, but I've never disliked him personally.
Yrael2008-11-05 05:03:28
What he did say: "I congratulate him, and Governor Palin, for all they've achieved."
What he didn't say: "I thank Governor Palin for handing me the presidency on a silver platter."

Obama.
It is so nice to feel good about an election. The last two made me cry. This one has too, but for a much happier reason.

Ever think that part of the 400k you're crying about is linked to the previous reasoning regarding why you think Biden will be president soon?
NO WAY SAY IT AINT SO.
But seriously yeah put him on a coach flight to Hawaii.

Funny story: Nirrti, the Lusternian, sat next to him on a coach flight not long after he started his campaign. Sadly, she's Canadian and did not get to vote for him tonight.

And a point I want to make that's important enough to not be an edit to what I posted above.
The election is over. You can no longer influence its outcome.
If the things you want really matter to you, you will go out and do something about it. In three years, by all means, start up the campaign again. Get ready to help contribute to Obama's spectacular downfall in three years if that's what you want, but in the meantime, go do something that matters. If it's moral issues that motivated you to vote the way you did, either Republican or Democratic, go be active. If it's ensuring equal opportunity for the poor, go find appropriate ways to help. If it's your belief in free enterprise creating wealth and opportunity, go out and volunteer to teach skills, or even do something as simple as improving efficiency and fairness in the company you work for. QQ less, choo-choo more.

Also remember that not just the Presidental vote is on the ballot. Lots of propositions and bonds are up for decision, and these (at least in California) are some pretty big ones.
Yep, I'm also in California and, in my opinion, the propositions are the only thing worth voting for.

Actually most polls indicate that amongst the people who value VP selection, Palin gave a net boost to McCain.
Stangmar2008-11-05 07:14:52
I agree with Visaeris. McCain is widely viewed as being Republican only by the fact that there is a little ® next to his name. His pick of Palin, while she is inexperienced, helped rally the conservative base, although it still didn't win them. Oh well. Congratulations Mr. Obama, we'll go at it again in 2012. At least it's over for now, even if my candidate lost. Just remember guys, you have Congress and the White House, don't screw it up

I don't think it could get any more "screwed" than it already is. There is a lot of BS to unravel from the last 8 years, and a lot of international healing we need to make happen. When they said the world was watching this election...they meant it. It wasn't just for the good 'ol US of A...it was the whole planet and it is going to take a lot of work. Even Obama himself said it wouldn't be fixed in a year, or perhaps even 4 years, but there are positive steps being taken. All I know is that I was inside a mob of over a 1000 people tonight, in the streets of Seattle, celebrating and unifying with people from all walks of life, color, class, and ideals...and everyone was happy. It was beautiful.
To me it was change. To me, it was the hope I haven't witnessed before in my life.
