Ah, it's just that. I thought it might be something about the coming years being critical or something.
There is that too with a possible economic crisis on the rise.
It's a big deal in Canada, or at least for the Ontario business sectors, and many of us base our votes off how the government handles the nations finances. If they can't handle the next two years, it's expected we'll be calling another election in order to find someone who can "deal with it" better.
Ahh.. the joys of a Minority Government.

I don't really know which would be worse ...
If elected, will Obama be killed off ... yeah, probably. It wouldn't suprise me at all, but that would leave us with President Biden (shiver) ... but on the other side, will McCain live for four years in office cause if not, we get President Palin ...

Good grief. Obama won't be killed off.

Last assassinated president was whom? And were people assuming he would be assassinated? Come on.

I stayed up all night last night re-reviewing voting histories and track records. I still haven't slept, but I voted and am rather surprised at how smoothly things went.
...Though, admittedly, hearing on Headline News that this is an especially historic election because Sarah Palin is the first woman on a presidential ballot disturbed me.

She isn't. That actually was Geraldine Ferraro in 1984.

I know. That's why it disturbed me. I couldn't believe they missed that.

Eh, the only news source that's unbiased is being an eye witness, and even that's doubtful.

The last president to be assinatated was JFK in 1963. And according to Wikipedia, the following have been attempted:
- 2.6 Richard Nixon
- 2.7 Gerald Ford
- 2.8 Jimmy Carter
- 2.9 Ronald Reagan
- 2.10 George H. W. Bush
- 2.11 Bill Clinton
- 2.12 George W. Bush
Do I think there will be an attempt made on Obama, sure. Do I think there will be an attack on McCain, sure. If either of those attacks are successful, we have then President Biden or President Palin. Its not a matter of if there will be an assassanation attempt, but when. Hopefully it won't be successful, but ....

I voted no on the proposed amendment to ban gay marriage in Florida. That's the only thing I went there to do. I could care less about the presidency, neither choice strikes me particularly powerfully.

I missed the registration deadline.

I voted No for Prop 102, which is an Arizona piece of legislative genius. There are already laws in place that specifically ban gay marriage, but Prop 102 was to add a clause to the AZ state constitution specifically defining "Marriage" as between one man and one woman.
ing ensued on both sides, and today will be the deciding day for it...

Arkansas has a proposition on the ballot to ban adoption or placing of foster children with unmarried cohabitating adults. I look forward to voting no on that later today.

So if the proposition passes, then there'll be a law banning gay unions between one man and one woman?

No more happy marriages between men and women!

Those who are saying that there is no chance for Obama being assassinated are wrong. As someone who worked for the Government, our security systems have their flaws, especially when it comes to bodyguards. There will be significantly more attempts on Obama for the mere fact of his race, which is quite sad. However, closet racists are all over America.
I'm voting McCain because I believe that Obama is just telling the people what they want to hear and the Democrats are hamming it up so they can get minority votes. He's doing the same thing that all previous Democrat candiates have done and they end up surprising you once they've secured their place in office. I just think McCain is the lesser of two evils. As for the people thinking that McCain will die in office. His mother is still alive and kicking, and he has the best medical doctors in the world at his disposal in Washington. I had a minor breathing episode during a field trip to the Supreme Court building when I was in 11th grade. Trust me, they really are the best.

So rather than voting on issues and positions, you're choosing your vote based on the meta-issues of how elections work, as a means of protesting attempts to get people to choose their vote based on the meta-issues of how elections work.
That is a work of sheer beauty.

Yes, yes it is.
Looking at the history of what Maryland's governor did as soon as he got into office. He increased our sales tax.
I see Obama doing the following things during his administration:
- He'll try to address the current economic issue the same way Bush did, and that's by printing out more money. Thus, decreasing the value of the U.S. dollar even further
- While he states he's not going to tax the middle class, and only the upper class. Once he realizes that there is no way that he's going to make any revenue off of the upper class, the bar will get lower and we'll find ourselves deep in federal taxes. Secondly, Obama has already proposed that a number of "miscellaneous" taxes be passed. Such as a Federal Internet Tax.
There's too many flaws with his campaign. The issue is that the common U.S. voter is too ignorant to realize it and simply bases their decision off what they want to hear, instead of making any logical sense of what it takes to actually do half of the stuff Obama has proposed.
Sorry, I prefer a realistic President such as McCain above an idealistic one.
Daganev2008-11-04 19:34:13
Yeah Obama allready won, so feel free to stay home and don't vote!
(unless you want to vote for McCain, he needs your sympathy votes) *snicker*
I think more news outlets should be stating such obvious facts.
