Please check out the Ironrealms Flash Client!
We're looking to test this new client alternative. Check out the map feature! It's pretty darn cool! Report any issues or problems to Ironrealms (not me). Be as detailed as possible. Also, do NOT email asking for new features.

So what is the purpose of this ultimately? To have a user friendly client that replaces ZMUD/MUSHCLIENT/CMUD?
Noola2008-11-05 19:49:06
To make it easier for me to sneak on at work?
Amarysse2008-11-05 19:52:01
Erm, is anyone else having any luck with the Map option? I just get a little person in the center of a blank background.

works for me, you might have to move a room for it to work.
I really like the look of it so far. I will be trying this out more after class...

I doubt it will replace those high end clients soon--but who knows one day!
For now, I think the aim is to have an easy, accessible client to introduce new players to Lusternia.
Noola2008-11-05 20:12:59
I only had time to pop on it a quick second cause I'm at work and the phone rang just as I logged in and I had to go hunt up the other Amanda...
Anyway, it's neat! It loads much quicker than the java does AND it works with firefox, which the java hasn't for ages. Plus, I like that you can get to all four games if you want to. I'll try it again later when I have more time.

It's so beautiful.
I still won't use it, but it is beautiful.

It's so ridiculously slow... This will never replace Nexus, don't know why it was even built.
Not meaning to be negative, it looks cool and has some nice features... It's just... really, really slow compared to Nexus or any other client.

I also just took a glance at it to check out some of the features.
The map feature is really nice. It replaces the need to type in MAP all the time (for new places).
I'll have to investigate the triggers and aliases section a little more thoroughly but it looks fairly comprehensive.
This client took about twice as long to load as Nexus does for me, but then again Nexus loads in maybe three seconds on my computer.
Initial report: Crisp and clean. Might use it.

Interesting...it actually loaded faster and moved faster than Nexus for me. o_O

Yeah, that's how it was for me too. Faster. But I was only on it for a tiny bit.
Amarysse2008-11-05 20:34:47
Odd. Even when I moved, the map display never changed.
Unknown2008-11-05 20:43:02
Awh. Doesn't give the advantages / disadvantages for each race. That makes me sad.
Gregori2008-11-05 20:50:22
It loaded instantly for me, definitely fast.
It has the same problem as Nexus though, a tiny viewing space, with the added problem now of you can open a map to block a portion of that already tiny viewing space.
Both nexus and this need to have a resizable window, with today's monitors being in the high resolution spectrum and larger viewing dimensions 19"+ it makes it just way to cramped.
Maybe it's fine on laptops and that appeals to more people, but if I can't maximize a client I am using with regularity I don't use the client.

Ahh, yeah, I knew there was something else I wanted to comment on. The size really is a killer, it needs to be resizable, badly.
I play lusternia on a 17" widescreen monitor at 1680 x 1050 resolution, wrapwidth 0, full screen. There's no way I could stand to play on something that lets me use a fraction of that, and it makes combat or any other spammy thing impossible.
Unknown2008-11-05 21:00:05
It was pretty fast for me, and looks nice. And it shows how much health/mana I lose or gain along with the bars.
Not all places seem to be mapped, for example roads are but communes aren't, and clicking on 'Help' takes me to Achaea's help page. Also, the page has "Midkemia online" in the title.

I was in Glomdoring. I even walked around.

I logged in for another little bit. First, it loaded all instantly and stuff again, which is cool. Also, this time I tried the map thing and I too was a little person standing in a blank box and I wasn't in a manse. When I clicked on settings, and then clicked the 'save log' button, nothing happened. Is something supposed to happen?
I agree with Gregori that the size is too small. The Java let you go full screen in a separate window, but I don't see a button for that on this.
But, I love that you can copy from the window, which you couldn't do with the java!
