Discernment is needed for the mana kills. Discipline for Celestines to be able to use inquisition, trans influence might be needed so you don't tear them apart with disloyalty. Monks need trans kata and maybe trans tertiary. Bards really only need trans music to be useful and devestating.

Mages are alright too. A well-played Telepath has no need of a mesne, it's just helpful.

Hrm, I always heard Guardian and Wiccan combat was pretty expensive, since you need to be trans in multiple skills to even stand a chance.

While monk is with out a doubt the cheapest Guardian is only really 3 trans skills sence if your good enough you completely shut down their offence 100% of the time. It doesn't really need the other skillsets as much as other classes do I would say.

For the bare basics to be a passable Celestine fighter (speaking in terms of solo against middle-tier fighters):

Trans Celestialism
Myth Sacraments
Myth Tarot (if you're a healer or astrologer, additional credits to switch to tarot)
Trans resilience (otherwise you are not going nowhere)
Trans planar (a given)
Myth discipline
Myth discernment
Fabled combat
Have to be non-merian/mugwump (so could cost you 100cr)

Give or take you can remove planar and maybe skirt by with low combat, and you can certainly absolve without discern in discernment, but it will be impossible to pull off an inquistion or survive long enough to do most things without trans resilience and myth discipline, unless your opponent just doesn't know how to fight.

I'm thinking of dumping Psychometabolism for Acrobatics on my monk, though...since whenever I fight everyone's all, "lol u r webd", followed by "lol u r prone" followed by "lol u r ded"

Or m-maybe I just s-suck at combat...sad.gif

Acrobatics really is better, and the way things are going with making psymet worth it, that will most likely always be the case. When fighting a monk, most people will just whore webbing or vines or whatever because it stops momentum build, so unless you can hinder on the first kata, it might be hard to build momentum without contort.

This should be taken with a grain of salt. Pureblade is by no means lacking, it is just not as "easy" as the other specs. It does, however, have the best lineup for a prolonged encounter and also the power for one hit throatlocks. It does not stun, so it does not get the magical auto-attrition to wounds that everything else does. It does not have a gimmick like pinleg, but it does have a very solid set of afflictions. Tendons are at heavy wounds so disabling your opponent comes somewhat easily.

I killed people (demigods included) as an unruned PB at level 76 with wounds, it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

Easy and gimmick will do nicely thanks! Bring back behead. Do eet!

I've been away from the game for quite some time, so maybe what I have to say is outdated, but Pureblade is not a poor choice for Knighthood.
You'd be right to say it's not as easy (read: no stuns), but with a knowledge of how to build wounding properly and a decent system to keep you alive long enough to build it Pureblade can be very powerful.
