So we have to go off what other people tell us, not what shaddus tells us.

When you said "now we know there are plain townies", I thought you meant, that if someone claims to be a vanilla towny, we know its an actual possibility.

But with the information we have so far, for all we know, all vanilla townies, are really part of mason groups, and so should have someone to back them up.

Well, the way Shaddus seems to have arranged it (at least in one specific case), it is possible. I'm going to assume it's probably not likely, mind you, and that Biggs/Wedge was probably a one-off.
