You can customize the pig snout to be your own snout
She is wearing Aesyra's snout.

In addition to what Xenthos listed, the various rings, and the various footwear ones, have been brought up in the past, as well as the changeling cameo and gem of cloaking.
Why would the gem and cameo need changing? how is that different from a rune?

No we are not exclusively referring to dingbats. The nose is dingbats but the sandals and boots are very much NOT dingbats. Besides, I equally have issues with the Brooch of the Tempest or the Circlet of Lucidity. I mean.. I'm wearing a crown AND a circlet?! W. T. F.
Aesyra looks so ridiculous by now, it makes me really sad.
Also, dingbats are way too useful to be called "entertainment only". Especially the nose. You just have to sacrifice your entire RP for most artifacts, dingbats or not. And -that's- something I don't get considering the price of them.
EDIT: A snout is a snout. Even with customization you cannot change the noun. Aka you cannot make it into a mask.

They might let you get away with a bloody pig snout on a chain.

That's actually a pretty good idea.
And for the boots, couldn't you customize them into "a small charm in the shape of boots" and so on and so forth?

I wonder if you could get away with customizing as "a ferocious animal mask with a snuffling snout" or something like that.

Any chance I can customize the snout into a mask or something non-snouty though..?

Erm. Well, no, it has to be a nose.
(Could be a "cute button nose" if you want!)

I was assuming that meant "it still has to have the word "nose" (or snout, whatever) as the main noun. And in the case of it being on a chain, it would still be reasonable as the main noun.

Well no, a chain shaped like boots would still make it a chain.

Right, which is why I quoted an earlier attempt to do the same thing which was specifically asked and answered. Did you read the quoted posts?

I don't think people are understanding Estarra correctly.
For example, I have my weapons, and the noun is flail.
However when you look at the, you see "Klangar's Fury", it doesn't say "flail" in there anywhere.
As long as you are fine with the actual programmable noun being "nose", as in nose12345 you are fine.
You can have the description of the nose while you are wearing it be just about anything. (as long as it makes sense)

Well, I've had my shofas once customized that way, but I've started to dislike that style. When you look at your weapon you ultimately see a FLAIL and not the text "Klangar's Fury" hovering in big red letters above it. Just a matter of style I know but it just looks silly imo.
I'll just wait what Estarra meant with her cryptic comment before (I hope "upcoming" doesn't refer to "sometime during the next year.. maybe.. might be the one afterwards though".) and then decide whether to bother writing a desc for Aesyra again or not. Not like anyone reads them anyhow.

well, the pretensious idea behind it is that it's just that famous. When you see the excalibur you don't think "giant longsword" you think "excalibur"

True but you can't force "fame" like that. When I see your flail I'm going to think "some customized weapon"

I don't think anyone has a problem with artifacts that must merely be in your inventory to function, i.e. cameo, gem, cubix, but rather the dingbats ones that look kinda stupid, namely the pig snout.

I don't understand why folks have such a big problem with the pig snout. You don't have to wear it all the time, just when you want to use it. And so what if it looks stupid? Hip-waders look pretty dumb too, but they come in handy if you need to wade into a river or something. Your character could just see it as a necessary evil or something.
Aramel2009-02-07 08:35:01
Not to necro, but as to the pig snout, at least: Could you make it be covered if the wearer's wearing a veil or mask? Think about it - it makes sense. If I wear a veil, it covers my face. The pig snout is on my face. Ergo, the pig snout is covered by a veil.
As-is, yes, it looks horrible. =_=

That is the price you pay for having such a useful skill like scent in an artifact. Don't like it? Change guilds and get scent the regular way.

You'd think the price you'd pay would be the 150 dingbats...
(also she already has the normal one, weiiird)

Actually, it's news to me that artifacts, besides costing a lot of credits/dingbats, are supposed to penalize me further.
In addition, occasionally looking before making assumptions would be sort of nice.
Edit: Erm, ninja'd.
