Personally, I don't wanna kill off lurkers. Just nudge them with votes so they'll talk.

Though, I guess if there's a plan in place to try to get info from Shaddus, I ought to move my vote back.

Unvote

Vote Shaddus

Give us informations!

I always play to live. That's what I think is fun in the game. blackeye.gif

But okay, let me try to clarify again.

Let us say that we have person X and Y.

X is active within the game. Posts often, but ultimately he isn't all that helpful. He gives no new information, is very undecided, can't bring himself to vote. In the end, he plays, but he doesn't make the game and townies progress.

Y isn't active at all. He has posted maybe once or twice, if that much and doesn't really care about the game much. He helps the Town just as much as X does.

In THIS instance, I will vote for Y, because while both are equally negative to the Town, at least X will have more fun by sticking around.

It is a player to player mentality. Not an IG mentality that makes me say that.

And bear in mind that this is a completely hypotetical situation. In most circumstances there's gonna be an avid poster that notifies him or herself as more scummish than the others, true, but again, this is hypotetical.

Or to write it in plain black. If I had to pick between Shaddus and Archer2 to vote for, I would vote for Archer2, because Archer2 is not playing for some reason, so he/she will not be as disappointed as Shaddus from being lynched.

Besides the reasoning, this line right here set off alarm bells:

"Let me clarify. From a completely OOC point of view where it doesn't matter to me who wins and who loses, in a situation where the Town has equal "

So, let me clarify. From a completely OOC point of view, what is best for the town, should be best for you also, so there should be no reason for you to get "out of charachter" unless the case is that you really arn't winning with the town. What landros said makes sense as to your alignment....

Oh. Well that makes sense. I really didn't think of it like that. I was speaking in the broad sense. As a player in any game, regardless of my position as Scum, Townie or Rogue I will try and get non-players out of the game, so that players can enjoy the game longer.

You should be comparing Archer2 to someone like Runther, because Shaddus is not being "unhelpfull" he is being potentially detrimental!
Kiradawea2008-12-05 19:56:33
I know. It was a poor example, but it was the best I could find in which I compared a poster with a non-poster. I hoped that it would at least get my point across.
Kiradawea2008-12-05 20:00:20
Ah. Now I have to run to work. I hope I clarified that my posts were meant as a general game advice that is completely seperate from my role in this game. I'll speak to you all in 24 hours or so, if you don't ninjalynch me while I'm away.

Catching up on things ... but I did notice something that Dag apparantly missed (his orinigal post edited some in the quote due to length). We have 22 players, out of those 22, 21 have posted something. One person has not posted one thing since we began ... and that be Thiden.
Llandros2008-12-05 21:28:47
Ok so Shaddus make with the giving us info before somone blows the vote count and lynches you for real.

Placate the masses!! PLACATE!!!!!!!

Then should the hive mind think you worthy we will go pick on Archer2 and Thiden.

Do eeeeet!

ahh, good catch. Thanks for noticing that.

But we should have 23 people posting, not 22 because of the mod.

So both Archer2 and Thiden havn't posted a single word.
Serella2008-12-05 22:07:27
Sorry I haven't been posting!

Reading over all of the posts, including Daganev's helpful post count list, I still think it would be better to vote for an inactive person than Shaddus. Even if Shaddus is making nonsensical, detrimental comments, at least he's posting. But someone who doesn't comment on the game is not helping at all. (I am somewhat guilty of this, haven't been able to get on computer much and when I do my connection is awfully slow sad.gif)

But yes Shaddus, do post and give us info!

Oh, and Unvote. Random vote isn't helping much.
Diamondais2008-12-05 22:34:33
Oh man, you guys posted a lot since when I left last night. laugh.gif

Not entirely certain what went on with the Shaddus bandwagon, and if it's still continuing but I guess from reading it had to do with him comparing what people have done skill wise with the actual game?
Esano2008-12-05 22:38:16
People, please try to remember I live in Australia. My posting times are different to yours. Pressuring me to post won't achieve much if I'm asleep or at school.

And there's at least one post I'm going to reply to ... moment.

Also, Esano, did you say that Shaddus tried to claim roleblocker? I couldn't really get that out of his post.

I was referring to this:

QUOTE(Shaddus Mes @ Dec 5 2008, 09:43 AM) 590181
Looking at my role, with the ABYX config, I'm going to also conjecture that anyone who claims roleblocker is also mafia. IE, the guyin the forest, with the arrows, that can block keys.

He's not claiming roleblocker, he's saying roleblocker (a normally pro-town role) is probably scum.
Rika2008-12-05 22:44:08
Hi. In case any of you don't know, I'm in Hong Kong right now so I am barely going to have any internet time. That would be why I have such a low post count.

Now, is it just me or has Shaddus been pretty much silent for the last four or five pages?

Oh, okay! Must have misunderstood your post. Shaddus' statement is kind of odd.
Llandros2008-12-05 22:48:49
The case against Shaddus is really based on two things. Both of them seem to be possible strategic directions that put him at odds with the interests of the townies. It's also very weak but it's the only thing floating out there at the moment.

Shaddus predicted that the "roleblocker" would be a mafia character. Considering that the roleblocker is a very powerful and usually very townie position it wouldn't be a bad idea to start up doubts about the person before we know who he or she is. Especially since it would be unwise for the roleblocker to role reveal this early to defend themselves. Very suspicious accusation.

Also, taking the approach to establish himself as very knowledgeable in the game setting's lore and direct people's attention about with conjecture of displayed powers and probable alignment. This seems to be very helpful but has been a sucessfull tatctic used by mafia players in recent games to control and manipulate the game.

Yes, he has. But so have I. I'm not sure about where he lives, but his posting times could be out of whack with everyone elses.
Llandros2008-12-05 22:53:01
In the second paragraph of my last post I meant that it wouldn't be a bad idea for a mafia character to spread doubts about the roleblocker..
Shaddus2008-12-05 23:10:46
Shaddus lives in Arkansas, US, a few hours from Noola, I think. Shaddus has a full time job, as well as a family to take care of, bills to pay, and so on.

Shaddus also suffers from ADHD, and seeing as his wife has medical issues, and his son somewhat does as well, he can't afford his meds. So he tends to talk without thinking, as well as being entirely too helpful with ideas and suggestions.

Having said all that, perhaps it is detrimental to brainstorm on the first day, instead of randomly voting, and try to catch a person. I don't have any information to give you, as my role doesn't list any other names. I merely pondered who might be in the game. I think Myrkr has created an intricate version of the mafia game, and I hope it works out well.

If you wish to lynch me for it, so be it.
Shaddus2008-12-05 23:15:40
Oh, and let m explain my idea about the roleblocker. I'm not saying THE roleblocker is or isn't mafia. I'm merely saying that seeing how my powers are listed, I'm sure everyone elses is in the same format. And if so, why?

So, I think that someone, mafia or not, will be able to block a certain button/key, as it were. And seeing as the person in the SNES game was evil, that person may be mafia.

Maybe not, I really don't know.

Tell you what, I'm going to shut up. If you want to lynch me for brainstorming instead of randomly voting, go ahead.
