I know a lot of you won't care, or will be saying "Who the hell is Brylle?" but I wanted this day to be marked publically here. smile.gif

Twenty years ago today I met my husband face to face for the first time.

We'd met online (yes, twenty years ago, online) in a national computer network for Commodore 64 owners. We hung out in the same gamers' chat room, and we got to know each other better when we played an RPG online together (with a group of other folks). I was living in Alaska, he was living on Long Island.

My roommates moved away and I couldn't pay my rent. He was living with his mother, but had been looking around for a place to move. A place with wilderness, and trees, and wildlife. Well there's a lot of that in Alaska. wink.gif We'd gotten close, romantic. Letters, phone calls, etc. But we were sensible about it. I asked him to move in with me, and he thought about it, and decided to give it a go. We knew it was possible the chemistry wouldn't be right between us, so we decided that even if it didn't work out romantically, we still had plenty in common to be good friends.

So he moved out. Flew to Seattle, took the ferry up to Juneau, and stepped off the ferry and into my heart on December 5, 1988.

I loved him the moment I saw him, and I've never stopped loving him. We made our marriage official two years later, but I felt married to him almost immediately. We've been through some difficult times together, and our marriage has had hardships. We stuck them out, though. We worked through them. We're stronger for them.

He is my life, and I love him fiercely with all of my heart. I'm profoundly grateful to whatever bit of luck or fate or supernatural being brought this brilliant, witty, generous, kind man into my life. I just wanted everyone to know it.

Who would actually admit to owning a C64?

On the non sarcastic snarky side of things, congratulations!

Someone who owned a Vic-20, a Commodore 128, an Amiga 1000, and an Amiga 3000? ;D

And thanks. smile.gif

Alas, though I have a tale of quite similar proportions, I fear it was ne'er meant to be.

I envy you - twenty years is a long time, especially for a relationship founded on something so infamous in many social circles, even still today.

(By the way, can you see Russia from your backyard?)
