Nice, Lawliet
There's nothing wrong with it... think about Chobits... I must not be the only one here who's read it... (or maybe I am lol)

I still think it's a bargain. Women are expensive.
Morhgor2008-12-13 04:13:18
Am I the only one here who has that random episode of Futurama coming to mind? ...the one with the education film about robots, and the killer Lucy Lu's.
Acrune2008-12-13 04:14:03
Heh, I remember that episode.
Arix2008-12-13 04:16:50
That's actually the first thing that sprung to mind
Stangmar2008-12-13 06:34:29
And just think, no PMS!

Make fun of him all you want, the fact that he had 20k to spend on this thing probably means he is making a hell of a lot more then any of us, and he seems to be very good with his set of skills, skills most of us here may want or aspiring to have.
Put it simply, I think a lot of the jokes in this thread are born of jealousy...

If he can build that kind of robot, the moment he can get it to walk, he's either going to vanish into thin air, or be very rich.
I am indeed jealous of his skills. I don't think he uses Nexus.

Of course, he could be taking care of his parents. People do that when they are older you know.
Also, I'd like to see you build a robot for $20K that can do what the article claims it can do.

Woahhh, touché, mister, no need to get defensive. Go back to building your fembot, then.
And for $20k, I'd make 'er walk.

Over what period of time?
10 fancy meals a month: $6000
Birthday and holiday gifts: $1000
I'm sorry flowers: 365x $20, $7300
Still less than $20K a year

The fact that he has 20k to spend and chose to spend it on a female robot means that how much money has has or makes is irrelevant, and can in no way diminish how sad this is. Jealousy has nothing to do with it.

I don't intend to have female companionship for just one year out of my life. Birthday, Christmas, Valentine's, and a nice dinner every two weeks (or, in the latest case, plane tickets every 2-3 months), let's say all at $60 a pop, works out to about $1750 a year. Add in the fact that you can't live a passive lifestyle, you'll do little things throughout the year, and then you get pressured into replacing some of the un-shiny things you have with shinier things, so realistically, being in a relationship costs $2000-$2500 per year. The bot might cost more up front, but 8-10 years down the road, not so much.
Women, you're lucky we can't replace you with a robot yet.

Some women could be low maintenance. I know I'm allergic to most stuff that are expensive (dairy, flowers, metal, perfume...). Aiko has a bland, neutral expression. If he does plan on selling the robot(s) when completed, hopefully he'll put in fiberglass eyes and do more work on the face (she just looks like a large, plastic doll.)
