Hrm... A choo-choo train...?
...No, bedtime. Really.

Eh? Frankly, I just want the game to start and I'm looking at things from a rather hard-nosed, "let's just get the show on the road" mindset. The mafia are, quite likely, those sitting not saying anything, because (as we've already proven), the citizens can handle random killings well enough on our own...
Rika2009-01-23 23:58:25
WHICH IS WHY WE NEED A DEADLINE.
Hint hint.
Hint hint.
Unknown2009-01-24 00:00:10
I think this is why the "Mafia for newbies" thing says that games generally start on Night 1. Of course, that means somebody dies right away, but at least Day 1 has something to start at. Oh well.
Serella told us she has powers, but she's not telling us what they are. Why would she tell us that unless she's not afraid of the Pigs?Ok. Maybe she has some sort of town role? That's a good thing, right? I could understand why she wouldn't do a full roleclaim.
As it stands, we know she has powers. I say tell us what they are. We know Rika has powers, and what they are.
My vote stays untill we get something actually useful.

Well stop vote-switching among the innocent people.
I'm keeping my vote with Myrkr. She's followed along with the crowd as a semi-active member, has goaded others to act, but has kept her vote on me the entire time, despite the reason for the dissolved train on me being because I was asleep and hadn't posted!

Rika2009-01-24 00:03:21
Again. I'm willing to believe that Serella is town.
I think I'll just go for a non-poster now. Ronny's on 3, Shaddus is on 4. This is not Shaddus' first game, and he's pretty active on the forums.
Unvote. Vote: Shaddus

Yeah sure. Let's lynch someone who indirectly claims a power-role, which, as we all know, includes stuff like Investigators, Doctors and rezzers (or in this case I guess it's escape artists). No, I agree with Noola. That seems very scummy to me.
Shaddus2009-01-24 00:06:46
Maybe she's not scared because she has some sort of "Look, I'm innocent" power?
@ Rika
And I haven't posted much because all we've done is play with a safe, you grabbed some crap out of it, and then we stand around and point fingers.

Imo, some opinions is better than no opinions.

Here's my opinion. I hate fake cheese (processed).
Happy?
Lol. Honestly, I hate posting on the first day, because jumping at shadows just gets innocent people killed. However, if there is some sort of truth reading person, you can check this statement.
I win with the robbers. I have no power I can actively use, besides being a mason with one person here.

More like I think her claim comes across as nebulous at best - she's not claiming any specific role, so her identity cannot be verified, which seems like a rather scum-esque action, enabling her to be below the radar while still being naughty. If she claimed something specific, it'd be far easier to prove the validity of that claim: either we'd see predicted results and have proof, or we'd not and it would be clear she was lying and would only have gained one round's safety. By claiming she is "something useful" we have no way to prove if she's being honest.

The winning with the robbers part probably isn't known to the cops/traitors.

Dunno. Might be worth just voting her off, both for expediency and because she's now claimed, albeit vaguely, that she's more than just an average joe, which makes her a mafia target - ie, if she's being honest, someone they'll likely lynch anyways. Seems like even if we don't get rid of her, we'll lose her...but if we vote someone else off, we risk losing TWO useful roles.
Am I making sense? Trying to get my head around this. >_<

This reasoning is faulty because it is assumed the mafia will definitely lynch Serella and we will lynch a robber. If you look at the probability of lynching a robber just by the numbers, yes, there is a higher probability. But the day time lets us gather information and improves our chances. Rather than looking at things from a hard-nosed mindset, you're giving up the opportunity to stick a pig.

"Seems like even if we don't get rid of her, we'll lose her... but if we vote someone else off, we risk losing TWO useful roles" ~Sadhyra
How did I miss this? That is just flawed. If we lynch her today, the robbers have a chance at picking off someone else without us even getting any information out of them. Even if we lynch her, we still have a risk of losing two useful roles. The chance is also probably higher. Vote: Sadhyra

First, read my second post.
Second, am I missing something? Quite likely am (remember, this is my first game here) - but I thought a roleclaim was her claiming that she's some important role (ie the types of people that the scum want to target and get rid of ASAP). Is that inaccurate?
Third, read my second post. In fact, here, I'll quote it:
Fourth: seriously, out of the like...5 people talking, odds are none of us are anything but vanilla...

Note, I've not voted for her. I'm merely exploring options out loud.
Shiri2009-01-24 01:57:03
I actually believe Serella's claim that she can't claim her role. Problem is that I'm not convinced that such a role is town for one reason or another. I would unvote her but in the absence of a deadline this stuff is going to take forever so I think we're gonna need to risk it.
Unfortunately the "winning with the robbers" thing has probably been made obvious over the course of a day this long (we had Myrkr claiming it in a couple pages last time, I think) from mentions of it, and it isn't even a particularly specific set of words like "shipwrecked survivors" last game so it wasn't worth THAT much to start with, in retrospect.
FYI, even when we used to start mafia on night 1 instead of day 1, we always had these slow-starts as there wasn't much to go on anyway, with the additional "bonus" of people being pissed because they didn't even get the chance to post in the game before being punked. Going back to night first might be nice every now and then though.

I don't know, I'm personally not too convinced of Serella's innocence or loyalty to the town.
You'll notice that she said nothing about actually being loyal to the town - and she wouldn't have needed to say that she was either 'no danger' or 'wouldn't use her abilities against town' if she just claimed that she was town, because both qualities are inherent in that claim. Going on that statement alone, she could be a survivor; I know I used the same tactic to try and convince the town not to lynch me in a previous game where I was playing that particular role.
If you take a look at it from the scum angle (less likely than the above, imo), it can just as well be a bluff. Everything that she's claimed is too vague to be actually useful, and the only thing that it tells us is that she is either hinting/claiming that she has a role that is too important or too incriminating to reveal. Which, while (evidently) good at deflecting votes, puts us back in a position of having no new information.

I will probably get frowned at for not giving a proper roleclaim, but there are certain reasons for me to not reveal my role. I can say that I am no danger to the town, and won't use any abilities I may have against it. Hopefully this is enough!

I'm going to keep my vote on Serella. Her roleclaim was extremely vague, and didn't even include a "I'm part of the Town (or Scum in this case)" or "I win with the Town". It just says she's not a threat to the town, which is something a serial killer or Scum (Cop) would say.
I think she's the best target for now, as I think changing votes on other non-posters will get us nowhere.

You guys shouldn't count on that being the case. Maybe she's actually unable to give away info. It's happened before.
