I tried telling them, but they wouldn't listen. Sorry man.
I know.
Thanks.

Furien's point is that unless the god themselves considers the fact that their order is going to get absolutely owned, the players will get absolutely owned. And if they all consider that? Then this will never get used. Quite simple.
Not going to use it myself hopefully. I can't stand having to face celenwilde zergs on every raid/domoth fight/etc, and I'm definitely not going to want to fight a celenwilde zerg during an order war. Unless of course they fix it.
Rika2009-01-12 05:45:53
Yep, never going to be used, or, whenever used, everything will go wrong.
Revan2009-01-12 05:56:34
Not closing off the Godrealm to the two warring orders is going to be a problem. It's not guesswork, it's not "we'll see", it's going to happen. Everyone knows it, so I don't see why we shouldn't just nip it in the budd, because I can already see "omg Eventru and Fain at war? gather all of our 30+ fighters who aren't even in the order so we can lay siege while the 3 order members have a cakewalk!". No, please, just no. Can we please NOT have this?
Unknown2009-01-12 05:57:31
I don't know, I think it's a pretty nifty system as long as your patron doesn't demand/expect every order member to defend the pk zone, and most Orders seem to have noncombat pathways and sects already.
And I doubt that the gods will ask their patroned orgs to assist in a war.

Revan2009-01-12 05:59:28
the gods don't have to. Players can never police themselves, so it's an inevitability.
Desitrus2009-01-12 06:04:32
Neat system. Fain's order is a zerg, it wants the right to be zergy. I feel like I'm at the end of Mortal Kombat and Thoros's Shang Tsung is challenging my Sonya Blade but he didn't mention the last rule of Mortal Kombat: YOU MUST ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE!!!

They don't have to ask. Lusternia is to the point where no one asks. Dirtymag kills Stinkincelestine at the whateverplane, Snugglyseren shows up to inspect with some friends. Dirtymag dies and Uglymag and Grifermag join in. yadda yadda. People see deaths off prime and they know a fight is on so they swarm it.
This will be the exact same thing.
Seems like a great idea in theory, but Lusternia's polarized orgs will screw it up.
Also: the fact that I, a Fainite, can't chill in Fain's library without getting ganked now sucks.

Because it was on TV and I, too, watched it in HD. And my roommate cold not sleep, and his partner was very agitated because I had it on very loud.

Test... your might. *DEN DEN DEN DEN DA DAN DA DAN*
You know, seeing it in retardedly crystal clear big screen glory made me realize... What the hell was I thinking when I loved that movie? The special effects are now like Sci-Fi original motion picture quality. And Goro's head looks like Chucky.
I still love it.

I just hope some of the cool things in temples are still there. I don't want to lose Big Tom.

Cut the subterfuge. The flip side to this is that if we take a look at Order Members, we'll see that certain Orders are dominated with combatants and certain Orders have very few. As a result, the only way to ensure everyone can participate is to make it open to everyone with penalties being assessed when opposing Order members die.
The problem here isn't so much that you don't want one side to be dominated over the other - you just want to be the one dominating. I really hope you didn't think people would be fooled by such a transparent argument.
Narsrim2009-01-12 06:31:59
I also think this prevents most combatants from converging on a single Order so that they can gain the largest advantage in this new conflict game. If anything, it shows what I would consider some rather crafty foresight from the administration.
Revan2009-01-12 06:32:45
Uhh.. considering that a ton of people are making the same statements as I am, I'm kind of disappointed at your attempt to try and counterpoint it with such a poor argument. If the order is worried about being out-classed/numbered, guess what? the order doesn't have to accept. So really, there's no subterfuge... only a thinly veiled attempt on your part to do exactly what everyone else is worried about.

A Magnagoran forum "zerg" of three people does not provide what I would consider a sufficient amount of "opinion" to add external justification to an otherwise weak argument. I also don't know how such a relatively few constitute a "ton." If that's the case, I imagine a "mega ton" of other people disagree.
Narsrim2009-01-12 06:36:56
Nejii, Iasmos, and Shuyin want to delete choke. A ton of people hate choke, clearly. Everyone hates choke. Can't we just fix it? Everyone's worried about it! It should be deleted. - see where I'm going with this?

I was going to use an analogy about pie, but I was afraid it would start up one of those ridiculous discussions. Let's not do the same with choke. Bad Shuyin, bad! *rubs Shuyin's nose in choke*
