She really is kind of right. I think Serenwilde was supposed to be more like Ithaqua in Imperian...but it ended up like Ackleberry should be here.

If any org is Ithaqua, it's Glomdoring.

Great concept,
Cool people,
..Just has a big cloud of apathy.

If Seren is anything, it's Celidon.. Just without the fail and we have a much less population of snugglers.

I find these types of statements confusing. It seems that while everyone concentrates on the small amount of generally unwanted snuggling that occurs in Serenwilde, they forget that there is no other organization with quite as much blindsided backstabbing and political maneuvering. This blissful, happy-bouncy vision of Serenwilde is utter foolishness to anyone who has played there for a time.

I wasn't even referring to the snuggliness, actually. Just that when new people are making their character for the game, I don't think Ackleberry and Serenwilde will be different enough from that perspective for them to draw in different kinds of people.

And anyway, the helpfile for Serenwilde doesn't say "we are snuggly", yet it got that reputation anyway, just because, for some reason, people who play like that seemed to join there more often.

I think of the three missing orgs (unless you count Jojobo, which isn't even mentioned in HELP CITIES), Ackleberry would be the least interesting one to have added. I think Hallifax or Gaudiguch would bring more to the game.

@Tael: I said Serenwilde was -supposed- to be like Ithaqua, not that it is currently. You're right, it isn't.

Thing is though if Ackleberry did come out as the land of snugglies, serenwilde could boot the people who lean that way and push further away from that stereotype
Shiri2008-12-30 04:08:55
That stereotype would be present regardless of whether it was true or not, actually, partly because of the preconceptions started by the other IRE games and partly because of momentum.

And I don't think you researched that "no other org" thing about the political backstabbing! Not a great point to bring up in Seren's defence ninja.gif
Dysolis2008-12-30 04:17:52
achaea cities sucked, that's why I left. No real flavor.

This. Honestly, my caco alt passed by more open, rather heavy "snuggling", several days in a row, in a very public place within mag (the freaking stage, right where you drop off bards even) than anything I see regularly in Seren. Unless of course someone is casting such a wide net that "smile", or a single hug for a family member and such are considered "snuggling".

And back when third eye and "who" were picking up names and manse rooms for a bit, the "two people in one room, frequently a bedroom or something even more obvious" list certainly wasn't limited to any one org. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it wasn't even limited to traditional allies/enemies.

Oh come now, it's no secret. There isn't an organization we haven't gladly screwed over for our own purposes. People keep getting surprised when we do it, and that's to our advantage evil.gif murphy.gif . No snuggly, power!

Yeah. The thing is, EVERYONE does that, particularly internally. Haven't you been watching the Glom rants since...forever?

Do what now? Screw people over and then be surprised that other people are surprised? Be evil and expect other people not to hunt you endlessly? Or use really annoying smilies that annoy everyone? I really don't pay attention to boring rants, so you'll have to be specific, Shiri.
