Etc. It then spammed me for ages. Total time for things to "clear" was about 5 minutes. Pretty much every time I've fought and I get slit throat/slickness it ends up like this. Am I missing something major in the code that needs to be toggled or something? My whole computer suddenly locks up - triggers off, pausing palisade, none of that works - these are all commands that were sent right around the time of the lock, and they seem to be sent in a huge bunch and then choke zmud for a few minutes after.

Also, I have green, but I can't type anything in to make use of it.

Yes. It is.

Here's the major flaw with Palisade. When you get stacked with afflictions, the system itself goes into a massive lag blackhole. Things like windpipe with slickness and prone with a few others will cause a horrible freefall of system failure. It will spam you with commands, repeatedly because it detects the lag, but none will go through until a few minutes after the fact. There is no fix other than a major Palisade rewrite. When you fight affliction spammers like monks, it's essentially palisade suicide.

That explains a bit, actually. I knew my computer was bad, but I didn't think it was -that- bad.

Here's my take on the situation and I'd be willing to bet I am 99.9% accurate. You lagged really, really bad after he started swinging on you a bit. You couldn't input any commands into the prompt or if you could they came up really slowly. I can tell you lagged because you diagnosed like 6 times(?) and none of the triggers caught meaning the failsafe timer turned off before you actually were able to diagnose. Palisade really isn't that bad, YOUR Palisade is. Fix the prompt trig first off it will help your problem immensely. Fixing as in CONFIG PROMPT REMOVE LINEBREAK and change all the prompt trigs to read off prompt instead of new line.

Nobody's perfect, and I'm pretty up front about Palisade being old and crappy and even Treant isn't the be-all-end-all of combat systems. I've done what I can, and some of the rest is up to you lot. I don't mind the trash talking of my old system for a client I no longer support, but was all that really necessary just to ask for a better combat system?

(By the way, I only made the prompts fire with the linebreak because zMUD has a longstanding bug about not firing 100% without the linebreak, and that can really mess with certain failsafes.)

Palisade isn't that bad, but I have found if you get a lock where you need green to get out of the system completely bogs down making it pretty much impossible to get out of it... Found that out the hard way earlier.

Haven't really noticed this, the system is scripted to if you have certain afflictions that prevent something to not perform that thing. This would stop the needless spamming. The only thing I've noticed that isn't fixed this way is arm locks and pipes. I really don't have much of a problem with the system itself though I have changed a lot of things myself. Tweaked the queue a bit, changed clotting, changed some problems with herb taking priority over pipes when pipe afflictions really need to go, healing during blackout, rebounding failing or prevented by stun and never putting back up, etc.

Mine spammed the hell out of cleanse when I was unable to stand and it lagged me so bad I just died. :/ Better go fix that.

I wasn't trying to trashtalk the system at all. I think I've done fairly well in combat so far, using that system entirely, and I greatly appreciate the work you've done and the fact that you have made it public (and gave you credits in thanks ). I was trying to find out what went wrong, and then edited the original post to ask about other system options. Sorry if you thought I was insulting the coding - I'm not at all! I know that I don't have the time to make my own, and I definitely respect that one (even outdated) is available.
