Elfen do not need more magic resistance. This is mainly because elfen will mostly be found in Serenwilde, who easily have the most magic resistance.

I didn't mean to say that to do or don't. I just meant that having psyhic resistance didn't make much sense to me.
Nydekion2009-01-05 20:52:46
With the balance bonuses the way they are now, I can agree to an argument that shadowlord faelings could use an extra +1 or +2 strength. I'm not particularly sold that master viscanti are untanky though. From the combination of stats and bonuses, they are one of the tankiest caster races, on par with female kephera. What you have there is basically a lucidian with a better distribution of resistances, especially with the sip malus being reduced after the racial changes.

Additionally, I've always wondered why merian aren't superior in their natural environment (water) compared to other races. Perhaps a minor perk that would fit the rp of the race would be to allow merian to move without movement lag while dived in deep water conditions to represent their freedom of movement.

Many things don't make sense. Like why do taurian have electric resistance? Or why are igasho resistant to magic?
Gregori2009-01-05 21:11:14
If it wasn't for the fact Gregori always goes back to elfen, for the RP of it in Serenwilde, I would change him over to human and am still considering it. Human > elfen except Lord

Loboshigaru resistant to fire? Orclach weak to it?
Arix2009-01-05 21:14:23
Merian are only good for two things: Being squishy, and being edible.
Unknown2009-01-05 21:21:42
Heh, I remember how some people were arguing that humans needed buffing during the last go around. dazed.gif
Arix2009-01-05 21:25:04
Humans do need buffing.
Nydekion2009-01-05 21:32:05
If humans need buffing, consider how bad merians must be if humans appear superior to them. tongue.gif
Arix2009-01-05 21:36:43
See, that's why I went elfen
Fania2009-01-05 22:30:01
I went from merian to human because of all the changes they were making. When the free reincarnations ended I was stuck as human. They are less squishy and have a small experience bonus. I do miss the int. and char. of being a merian. Oh yeah, I looked better as a merian, too.

Some ideas for merian:

Improve base CON by +1-2
Improve equillibrium bonus. +2 would be satisfactory
Remove elemental penalties or reduce to level 1
Automatic waterwalking
Level 1 sip bonus
Increased movement underwater
Raise water regen to +3
Add resistance to cold damage: +2. Makes sense, if fire/electric are going to hurt so much.
Add resistance to magic: +1 or 2
Add resistance to cutting: +1 or 2
New! Increase salve balance by +1. Since merian are all slippery and such!
New! Increase writhing times by +1

I'll think of more. The op was scribbled in haste, but I'm glad Desitrus posted some test results.

I read this and I almost thought you were joking. You're.. serious? I didn't know we had the options to make our own super race here. Please, add lv 2 balance bonus to brood Viscanti because warriors need speed too. Honestly, I think the first step to solving the problems here would be to treat the resistance positive/negatives just like they did balance +/-'s, not super buff your race.
Everiine2009-01-05 22:40:16
I don't think she was asking for ALL of these changes, she was just making suggestions.
Unknown2009-01-05 22:45:15
If we're gonna do all that to Merian now I think viscanti need their sip malus removed. Brood viscanti has nice resistances but the low int/dex/cha is extremely crappy. The sip malus doesn't even balance out with what they've got as advantages. I agree it's stupid seeing human as the superior race in lusternia, I wish celest/mag org races were superior in their own way (like shadowlord faeling and elfen lords); nice races, with nice stats, with no disadvantages.
Malicia2009-01-05 22:48:23
Okay Thoros/Vathael. Keep up. I was tossing out ideas, not asking for every last one of those things. Are you seeeeeeerious? Heh.

Though if the admins offered all, I wouldn't say no suspicious.gif

I wish the spec races for all the orgs were as nice in all three specs as elfen lords are in the elfen spec.

High Elfen : -1 str, -2 dex, +2 int, +1 cha
Total: -3, +3

Wilde Elfen: -1 str, -1 size, +1 int, +1 cha
Total: -2, +2

Elfen Lord: -3 cha, -2 int, +4 str, +3 con, +2 dex, +2 size
Total: -5, +11

EDIT: Faelings suck too, mostly. Our own fault for providing bad arguments during the rebalancing, can't change that. People still play as them.

Hey now.

We provided a large number of good arguments (with numbers included), there just wasn't as much support for them as there could have been. It was extremely hard to get what we got with just 2-3 people pushing the issue.

And yeah, Elfen Lords are dreamy.

Eh, on a more serious note, I really don't think elfen (elfen lord and wilde elfen anyway, high elfen are good but nothing to write home about) are overpowered, just better than other races. I wouldn't mind if all races were equally as awesome as elfen or human were.

So how about them merians.

lol! Not OP, just better... than everything.

Anyway, yes Elfen need more drawbacks and I did say on envoys that I believe merian need to a reduction in the way they take elemental damage specifically if they are taking two weapons, one with fire, one with electricity and I wouldn't mind seeing them get a resist or two but I think Malicia's improvements are abit extreme with all that buffing you want to add.

Though, I am firmly against the large racial changes that was put on envoys, not only because I think reducing the resists keeps those races like elfen/human and pumps them up making them more OP, but also because it makes the levels of resists so much smaller that races become less of an unique experience with strategy and more of a matchcar situation where everyone is made up of the same things with different looks (except for the OP stat races that will see no changes except being more OP as the other races take hits).

I think viscanti builds for guardians/bards needs to be buffed (in stats, the sizes/damage others can build to that we can't is ridiculous), warrior is pretty strong as is but bard is almost useless in comparison to elfen or other builds in cities. Merian/mugwump/aslaran also need changes that would help them without trying to revamp the whole system as dramatically as being asked for.

If you're going to go that far, toss Faeling into the mix (feel free to look at the prior comments about the subject from other people). Thanks! happy.gif
