Celest's problem is we have a series of leaders that each want to be an Obama, but instead find that they can't really do all that much. The city has been distinctly polarized.

The leader can't make the organization. The citizens make the organization. Perhaps too much emphasis is placed on who is the leader.

In Celest we just have a small group of people who do things while the rest sit around and twiddle their thumbs, hoping desperately that something falls from the sky.
Generally we call that rain.

This is way, way later than 97.

I've only been around for a few months, but it seems to be the same in any organization.
There are a few motivated people, that try to get stuff done. There are a bunch of RPers, that look for interaction where they can find it, and there are those that just sit around trying to find something to do that doesn't requre any real effort.
But back to Glom.
I think, actually, part of Glom's RP is the reason why it is hard to hold onto leaders, or just people in general. Part of the teachings are to never look at past mistakes, or admit any failings of any type. How the are you going to move forward with that kind of attitude? Also, the very suspicious view, and resentful treatment of outsiders hurts Glom in regards to getting new members from places aside from the portal. Additionally, though a dark forest is truly unique RP from what I've seen in my RPG-hopping, most people who want forest-centered RP are just going to gravitate to Serenwilde, naturally.
By the way, I'm not complaining. My character's RP is completely dogma-centric, and I personally came back to Lusternia because of Glomdoring, and have no plans to move her elsewhere. Just putting in my two cents.

We left behind the "it's our rp!" problem a few dramas ago. Update plz.
Astraea2009-01-14 21:49:11
Tbh, I wish I didn't have to resign as CL, I enjoyed it a lot, and wanted to get a few more things done, but my Lusternia time has been pretty much halved, and I didn't think it was fair to keep CL, Glom suffers from too many sluggish leaders. That being said. I'm going for either Krellan or Talan, personally. There is no other option, for me. Krellan offers combat and charisma, Talan offers swift decisiveness and competent task management. So, we'll see.

She offers sass! Lots of sass!

If I was a Glom I'd probably vote for Ast anyways. muhaha.

The whole "I would only vote for X and Y" that's happening in this thread is why it needs to be closed. Please, someone?
Astraea2009-01-14 22:03:21
I don't understand why that would mandate it needing to be closed, Rika.

Wow, excuse me for not digging up every single thread. No need to be mean.

Because all of it should really be happening IG?

I like how Malarious has been asked to withdraw from the election. Mind you, I don't consider him to be the best of candidates considering his newness to Glom, but it's funny how with elections certain people inevitable fall back on slander and generally cheap behavior.
Astraea2009-01-14 22:07:36
It is happening IG, but what harm is there in gossiping about it on the forums as well? I would never say half the stuff I say on the forums, ICly. It's refreshing to have that outlet.
Malarious doesn't know anything about Glomdoring. He did the Night quest and didn't know he had to kill the baby after Rowena said "Now, Malarious! Kill the child now!". Asking him to remove himself from the election isn't slander, that's just common sense. You don't join an org and then immediately run for its leader. I find it a little bit insulting, considering how much effort other people have put into Glomdoring.

Who says it isn't? I don't think people stop talking in the game when threads are made in the Forums, do they?

I forgot my password so I had to make another account.
But anyways, it's nice to see Dramadoring is still alive and kicking. I get to look forward to seeing this new version in a few weeks when my laptop gets shipped up to me .
I should run for Marshall. Therefore, I will endorse myself. After me, the next best choices would probably be Ashteru, then maybe Exeryte, if he's still forging all the time.

And Krellan who openly disrespected Blacktalon guild rituals, and has been abrasive to many in the commune is not similarly asked to withdraw? Wasn't he even removed from the Blacktalon for his behavior? Not saying he isn't qualified, but all the candidates have their good and bad points. To single out one is just lame.
