Subj: A decision.

Hello Glomdoring,

As of late, something strange has been happening to me, plagued by odd
thoughts and foreign emotions, I have taken to meditating often, my time
and attention is much taken up attempting to figure out what is
occurring, and it seems to be something indepedent of the more serious
events taking place within the Basin. However, as it leaves me
distracted and prone to long silences, I have decided that I can no
longer serve in the capacity that the position of Dark Marshall requires
of me. Effective immediately, I hereby offer my informal resignation. I
will not resign formally, however, so that we do not go without, for the
duration of the election. I hope my successor is a competent one, and
one that can make the Glomdoring proud.

Subj: My Contention

With the resignation of our current Dark Marshall Astraea, this post is
to announce my contention. It is my goal to aide Glomdoring so that it
may thrive in a new age. Regardless of whether or not you allow me to
lead, I am determined to see this goal become a reality. Villages will
pledge their loyalty to our the Dark Forest, the Ravenwood will surge
with power, and all who reside in the Basin will know of Our Glory.

With that said, please feel free to ask me any questions you may.

Subj: The Dark Marshall of Glomdoring

Glomdoring, I come to you running for Dark Marshall. It is important to
thank Astraea for all the hard work she's done now that she is parting
from this esteemed position.

To deal with what's at hand, we now find that we are in need of a new
Dark Marshall. I ask you to consider carefully the strengths and
weaknesses of those running for Dark Marshall, for the Dark Marshall
does not only lead the Glomdoring. The Dark Marshall is a medium through
which the Glomdoring has their expressed wishes for the forest take
manifest.

Whomever it is you choose, remember that there is no wrong choice.
Choose who you feel will aide in the glorification of the Glomdoring, in
all forms. Consider your positions on various topics related to the
Wyrd. Most importantly, have faith, for whoever is chosen to lead will
lead well, or the Wyrd surely will eat them whole.

Walk in the darkest of blessings, Glomdoring. And remember, if you have
any questions for me, you may feel free to ask me at any time.

- Myrkr

Subj: My bid for commune leader

In the sixteen years that I have served the Glomdoring, I have known
three commune leaders. Each of these has served admirably through
adversity, yet each has merely sustained us. I say this without insult.
We must acknowledge what is true. This generation has lacked its
perennial leader. Our commune has not thrived, but merely survived. I
have never seen us as being beyond hope or lacking potential. Indeed,
there has been more than one glimmer, more than one beginning of
momentum in the right direction. But we have been plagued by waning
stamina, lack of organization, by apathy and boredom. Do not look at
Celest or Serenwilde. These are the only foes which can do us lasting
harm.

I would be the enduring leader that our commune has lacked. I do not
promise that overnight we shall reap the Glory which is due to
Glomdoring. What I promise is to reestablish our foundation, and to put
those who are willing and able to excel to work where they can best
serve. We are a commune, yet community is not inherent. As with trust,
we must work to build it every day. We will say that nothing matters but
Glomdoring, but many have forgotten what this means. I would strive to
bring us together, to act as one, and to those with disinterest in the
notion, those who believe it is merely an empty and outdated sentiment,
I say go and get out of the way.

The perpetual goals of all organizations are little changing. Villages,
domoths, stronger culture...they are only acquired and sustained through
the concerted effort of one whole. We are bound together by common
values. Let us cease acting without common purpose.

Penned by my hand on the 18th of Urlachmar, in the year 226 CE.

Subj: My Contestation

Nothing matters but Glomdoring.

Truly that should explain itself in terms of why we say it. We give our
lives for It, we give our gold to It, and pledge our services to those
who aide It. I was on a brief leave and return to find that some do not
recall the Lady's brief yet powerful statement to the Forest. I will not
preach through a scribe nor will I even act in a scolding fashion, but I
will say I cannot say I expect such a meaningful and important phrase to
go ignored.

To those who would seek another option within this election I will offer
one and I wear my politics on my sleeves, if you want to know more than
I have scribed to the Glomdorings news you may ask me yourself. Before
you storm me with questions I will go ahead and announce most of them to
save you some time.

My name is Malarious and I too hailed from Magnagora before coming to
the Wyrd. When my journey from the portal was complete I stood as a
Nihilist within the Engine of Transformation. In service to the guild I
have taken the mantle of Protector, Security, Champion, and that of a
member of the ruling Trinity of Nil. From there I moved to the Cacophony
where I also took up the champions mark as the Crescendo. I now serve in
the Harbingers with varied goals in mind, but all of which are to
improve the guild in its goals, though the methods can vary.

Not all of my thoughts and experience stem from my guild however. Within
Magnagora I served as the minister of culture before stepping down when
I felt change was needed. Upon my leaving I was a member of the advisory
for the Iron Council and was an aide to power, trade, and culture. I
served as head of city influence at least twice, a system the Glomdoring
does not hold. My domain is war, trade, and politics and I always seek
to improve these as a method to also empower our economy so we may
continue to thrive and flourish as the Forest herself does.

I will not make promises nor take a "platform" as some would say.
Promises end once they are fulfilled or you fail to fulfill them, but
saying what can be expected will tell you plainly what you can expect
from me. My aims would be to improve trade, bring in new commodities,
bring more training for influence, and improve our military abilities,
mainly through practice with teamwork.

If you seek any of these things then I encourage you to vote for me. I
have been in the Basin for some time and touched upon many of that which
one may find, but I will not stop learning and exploring yet. I will not
be bitter if I am not elected, I am simply offering another kind of
option, a forward one who isn't afraid to say everything directly. As
always if you have questions just ask.

Nothing matters but Glomdoring,

Malarious

Not included, but no less exciting are posts stating/refuting the need for policy positions, as well as the fae-killing drama.

Discuss.

It seems like it's being handled pretty well in-game. Why not handle this election in-game?

Mostly because I wanted to see all the posts without losing my defs.

That being said, the only thing I can really say to these posts, especially regarding the lol@5 bit:

lolz
Unknown2009-01-14 19:05:05
Silly boy, don't you know the forums are the real game?!

In all seriousness, it'll be/is handled IG (I'm the one that called the meeting for the candidates?), but that doesn't mean we can't have OOC views/blather about it.

Plus, Desi needs a place to make snide remarks or he might self combust. As amusing as a burning aquamancer might be...
Rika2009-01-14 19:10:37
If I had no self respect, I'd be running too, for the lulz when I see I got more than my own vote. XD
Celina2009-01-14 19:48:25
....wtf Malarious? You can't honestly plan to win this one.

If I were a glommie, I'd vote for Talan.

Malarious is running under the Ralph Nader model -- He's a total leech on votes with no chance of winning.

I think the only person that is voting for Malarious...is malarious. I <3 him, but wtf?

He's actually somewhat appealing as a candidate, in that he's a fighter. Same with Krellan. Those types of leaders tend to be a lot more easy-going when it comes to things like power use, rank, direct action needed during times of trouble. Nothing more frustrating than getting your butt kicked for an org and then having to deal with red tape as well for the work you put in to get that butt kicking. Then again, those types are stereotypically bad at playing well with others...

Oh Krellan. Now that would be a fun commune to be in if Krellan wins.

I entirely agree.

I don't want to ruin the fun so I'm going to leave things be, but if it looks at all as though this thread is being used as a substitute for the game, I'm going to swoop in and sew it shut.

Xenthos ftw.
Unknown2009-01-14 20:04:19
Well then, a more constructive and less drama-hungry contribution: I've only ever lived in Glom and research shows me that it used to be much darker and more powerful than it is. The Glom I see is rather ADD politically, with a somewhat paradoxical dose of apathy tossed on top. Mix in some snuggling and behind-closed-doors RP and a few notables and that's what I get from the commune. Why can't the forest retain leaders? Why ARE we Glomdorama? I doubt there is something innately unique to the org itself that makes it harder than other orgs to lead...
Urazial2009-01-14 20:15:22
Part of the reason we have Glomdrama is that people keep bringing Glom stuff to the forums that should be left in game. dry.gif

Sometimes I really do miss the hot mess that is Glomdoring. Sometimes....

It's just the little emo commune that could.
Unknown2009-01-14 20:49:41
The high turnover rate for city leaders doesn't seem like a Glomdoring-only problem; I hear Celest has the same problem too.

Tons of bitching + little reward = burnout

Then an unsuspecting player takes up the mantle to renew the cycle.

It's the circle of life...and it moves us all through despair and hope, through faith and love, till we find our place...
