What about a near-trans discernment skill that allowed you to see how much of an area you had explored? For instance:
Would be so incredibly handy. I can't for the life of me remember what areas I've explored and which I haven't.
Yes, it does somewhat work as an area-wide secret exit finder if you haven't found any, but given it costs 5 power and isn't specific I don't see it being that overpowered.
CODE
AB DISCERNMENT TRAILSENSE
Syntax: TRAILSENSE
Powercost: 5 (Any)
Using your superior senses, check for any signs of trails that you have not yet followed. This will reveal what proportion of an area you have already explored.
3455h, 5098m, 5398e, 10p, 13575en, 21225w exk<>-trailsense
You bend down and check for evidence of paths you may have overlooked.
You sense that you have explored 72% of the Neferti Fungus Gardens.

If such is possible to be coded.
Stamp of Approval. There's maybe probably even one or two rooms in Serenwilde I've probably overlooked. Useful to know if you've explored all of them. While arguments could make for possible metagaming. Oh well, there's already enough metagaming methods as is.

That would be awesome.

Explorer rankings should just show how much % of all explorable rooms you've explored!

That wouldn't help me much, I'd vastly prefer trailsense!

I like this idea too!

Well the information must already be stored on which rooms each character has been to (like a sequence of integers for room vnums, or maybe integer ranges), the expensive part will most likely come in the search for vnums of an area and then the search for matching vnums in the character record.
But with 5 power cost it can't really be spammed, so hopefully the cost won't be significantly detrimental.
