You know how sometimes you have so many frickin' books in your inventory and you're trying to give a book to someone to read but you keep giving the the wrong one? So what do you do? Drop each book until you find the right one, or put them in your pack. You also PROBE each book to make sure it's not your erotic novel that you're writing and embarrass yourself.

I know what you're thinking: But Amat, you can just punch in II or INFO INV to get the ID number!

You know what? Screw you. I have over a bijillion things in my inventory. We need a booklist in discernment. :<

...You know what? Just for the S and G's, make it a scroll/booklist.

WHO'S WITH ME?! =DDD

You can II to only get items of that type, like II SCROLL, or II LETTER

I learn something new every single day.

It's still useful. Because if I have three dusty scrolls, I don't wanna have to probe each one to find the particular dusty scroll I'm looking for. There's a list for everything else, I think a booklist that shows the scroll/book and the title would be very nice.

Booklist should do

If you've got a manse library, you could simply shelve all the books in your inventory and then unshelve them as and when you need them.

Then I'd have to walk all the way out to my manse library - instead of being able to just hand the book over to the person who wants to read it when I'm standing around at the Great Library chatting with someone about books.
Fain2009-01-20 21:25:44
Evidently so. I'm not proposing it as a substitute.
Vionne2009-01-20 21:30:29
Then why bring it up?

I don't understand sad.gif
Fain2009-01-20 21:34:50
Not as a substitute for the idea, just as an option in the mean time.

Fain doesn't understand the first rule of forum politics:

If you a counter argument is suggested to an otherwise good idea, it extends the time on which that idea will be implemented indefinitely.
Vionne2009-01-20 21:46:23
Ah, I see!

Wasn't trying to be confrontational, just really didn't understand smile.gif

Oooh!

While I kinda like the idea, honestly... the last thing Discernment needs is another ability to throw in and push back the useful ones. When CLOTHESLIST was added (useless to me and many people), it pushed back an ability we tell novices to get, making them spend more lessons for a used skill because someone wanted a "convenience".

So, put it above Diagnose.

I'm actually of the opinion that you shouldn't need an ability to see what books you are carrying. Books don't decay, so why shouldn't you be able to just see a list of the books you have? At least you can argue with other things that you have to "discern" how long until they decay, or something.

Huh? You want the ability, but you don't? confused.gif

I'd just like to see the books in the library ordered newest to oldest instead of oldest to newest (or an option to see it this way). You have to scroll down tons of pages just to see all the newer books in the library.

Everiine2009-01-20 22:09:30
lol, what I mean is that you shouldn't have to put lessons into a skill to get this ability. You don't "learn" INFO INV for example. I think BOOKLIST and similar skills should be like that.
