There you go, mystery solved on why omen 'sucks'!

Why has no one posted comparison logs of omen vs non-omen? If you're going to complain about the effectiveness of a damage boosting skill, you're going to need to show what the damage is without it, with all other conditions the same.

I dunno, Thoros also said he had a TF...so Viscanti has 20% blunt and 10% poison instead of the 15% to all. I'm not going to do the math (because I suck at it) but it seems like the Viscanti point is nullified by the lack of TF.

There's no need to do the math. Give a log with omen. Then give another log without it, with everything else the same. It will then be simple to see that Thoros and Revan decided to see if they could get omen buffed by posting a log of using a low damage blunt weapon on a person who is wearing splendor and is resistant to blunt damage.

Its like magic!

I will, then. Assuming poison runes and no true favour, we discover that 66% of the damage will be blunt and 33% will be poison. Then, only 80% of the blunt gets through, which means he only takes 52.8% of the damage from the blunt and only 90% of the poison will get through, 29.7% of the poison damage gets through. which means about 82.5% of the damage makes it through. This, of course, does not factor in robes or anything else. (123% damage with Omen's 150% increase applied after the reductions.))


If we assume the TF as well, that puts at 85% off the top. 56.1% blunt from the original 100 and 28.05% off the normal 33%. Factoring in racial resists, 44.88% of the damage from blunt, and then 25.245% poison. Factor that back in means we have 70% of the damage make it through. (105% with omen.)

All of this is assuming my math is right. (Haven't done math like that in years.)

Edit: Those final percents would be damage against someone like me, no TF and no resists.

Hm, the last time I tested Omen (about 1 real life year ago), it was a 2p skill that lasted 12 seconds and gave a 40% flat damage buff. If it's 50% now, it's either just conjecture or it got a ninja buff along the way somewhere.
