Hm, the last time I tested Omen (about 1 real life year ago), it was a 2p skill that lasted 12 seconds and gave a 40% flat damage buff. If it's 50% now, it's either just conjecture or it got a ninja buff along the way somewhere.
These are the conditions as I believe them to be. The reason I didn't want something like this posted was not for 'evidence' sakes as I have tested it with necromancers within the game and know its mechanics and am willing to test it with other envoys if they will gripe with my report (was nearly every celenwilde envoy does upon hearing Mag say that it needs fixing). Either way, the reason I hate posts like this (just like the chasm post, just like the ectoplasm post) is the massive rally that comes in and forms an opinion without really knowing whats up.

If the testing was better it would be easier for people coming in to be informed about it. Given those - fairly impressive - stats, though (specifically for group combat and against people unable to focus spirit due to either condition or not having the skill, which is a LOT of people), I'm interested in what this report to "fix" it will be.
Not that it's your fault the testing was like that, of course.

Fact 1: Omen is a 50% increase in damage.
Fact 2: It lasts for at least 12 seconds, up to more than 20 seconds.
Any questions? Please refer to the above.

I'm curious as to why you automatically polarize the opposition to such a buff. I don't know that all "Magnadoring" envoys will even sign off on an Omen buff, given that it is a flat damage increase, curable only through time or spending 25% of your mana with a trans skill.
This strange "Celenwilde Envoy" stuff is fairly off-base. If Talkan suggested to buff inquisition, I'd be all over saying no to that as well. Oh wait, when it did get buffed, I was the Sacraments second envoy posting that it should immediately get turned back down if not nerfed more. I nearly lost my biased celenwilde card that day, shuyin was very strict with me.

Delete envoys, please. They're responsible for the majority of ed up skills/balance we have now.

What's imbalanced about wearing a mask and weaving illusions at the Pool?

There are a lot of people not reading very closely and getting their panties in a twist.
Aison2009-01-22 19:13:37
Keep focusing on those panties while everyone else says that Omen is not Underpowered, and is actually Quite Good.
Romero2009-01-22 20:54:47
Omen is actually 12 seconds with a sporadic 20 second timer coming in here and there. After testing the time of cast, I was given 12 seconds, 12 seconds, 20 seconds, 12 seconds, 20 seconds. The pattern was random but 20 seconds occured 2 or 3 out of 10 times. So my problem was the duration as I said.

Why are you posting here? 2 posts so far and you've yet to have a point or actually form a cohesive thought.
Also, Why do you capitalize the First letter of Random words?

Why do you goad people after attempting to condescend them for being off topic? Isn't that a bit contradictory? Is this one of those "do as I say not as I do" moments?

I would imagine Omen is fine otherwise I doubt Thoros would use it as much as he does. You don't see him spamming disfigure, that's because it sucks. To the best of my recollection Omen hasn't been changed but I could be wrong. Pre-nerf damage, Omen added a nice little chunk of damage to pre-nerf maxed out broadswords.
Judging from a log that was posted from Revan:
5592h, 6000m, 6160e, 10p, 29400en, 27586w elrxk<>-
With a focused look, Vathael strikes at you with a hideous hammer of depraved steel. You are hit on the left thigh for a minor bruise.
400 approximated wounds added to left leg.
stance legs
Shrugged
5223h, 6000m, 6160e, 10p, 29400en, 27586w elrxk<>-
That is 369 damage. If Omen is a 50% increase to damage then that would be 553 damage which is fairly close to your 450-500 attacks give or take a few points on racial stats, blessings, and weapon stats. It seems fine to me.

She at least attempted to mention omen, so she wasn't really "off topic." Merely her lack of a cohesive thought process was brought into question. I think she was trying to imply that I thought Omen was underpowered, which made my chuckle.
I do like to goad her though, kind of like how you are trying to goad me. Lulz for everyone. You truly are darling, Narsrim.

Nothing at all.
WHO if said person doesn't have a gem of cloaking. Oooor, in my case, HELP CANTORS and I bet you'll figure it out within 2 minutes... especially if this masked person is wielding a lyre, celestian shield, or cauldron
Now as for gems of cloaking + masks... Well, I'd rather not spoil that.
But weaving illusions with or without a mask has little difference since no one sees when you weave the illusion. I suppose Glamour would be the equivalent... but at least you can WHO HERE to see a glamoured person.
The only imbalance I can think of would be that, unless you can figure out who the masked person is, someone could easily run around during a revolt and influence stuff. Masks don't fall when influencing, but they do when debating (and campaigning for sanctuary)
Now back to Omen... No buffs for Omen, please. Thoros doesn't need to do MORE damage (neither does Ixion and the rest of them). Thanks!
