I'm interested in what this term means to people as well as what proportion of the population considers itself "gamers", so I'm leaving it deliberately ambiguous in the questions.

I wish I could take back my vote.
I'm really not a gamer anymore. Though I was when I was in college.

In my opinion, none of those classify gamer, being a gamer isn't about online games, it's more about playing a bit of everything, console, text based, online, computer, pen and paper, minatures, there's so many different games now, so it's a bit hard to classify it.

If anything, it would be the last, but more having knowledge over a wide variety of different systems.
Shiri2009-01-26 08:01:31
Ok. I didn't even consider that possibility as I've never heard that opinion before. Don't know how many people would have voted it instead of option 5 though so I can't really change it now.

I am a gamer. smile.gif I play lots of other games than Lusternia. Other than reading or programming, playing games is what I spend most of my free time doing.
Unknown2009-01-26 12:31:33
I'm a gamer. Pen and paper, miniatures, lots of video games, Lusternia, board games, card games, dice games, Flash games, etc. I only wish my D&D group didn't have to break up because it's hard to find new people to play...

"I'm a gamer." That's been my pickup line lately. Hum the Mario themesong to a guy and watch them swoon. >_>
Shiri2009-01-26 14:48:58
Damn, knew I missed something, wanted to seperate it by gender. Interesting that three people consider themselves "gamers" even though they only play Lusternia, though.
Fain2009-01-26 15:09:59
I only play Lusternia. And I'm not convinced it counts as playing.

So no, I don't consider myself a gamer.
Diamondais2009-01-26 15:41:13
I'm a gamer, no doubt. Haven't been much of one over the past month or so, but.. yes, I'm still a gamer.
Noola2009-01-26 15:58:17
I consider myself a gamer, though I only play Lusternia (unless you count Sims 2 and Spore). Why? Cause I play it so much. I spent 10 straight hours logged in yesterday. And none of it was AFK time. laugh.gif

What you really should've done is add a "No (Gamer in denial)" answer smile.gif

I don't consider myself a gamer and I only play Lusternia (poker, Kongai, Kongai card challenges, boardgames, other card games, graphic abominations and russian roulette and any other form of gambling doesn't count).

I've been lacking a D&D group for a long, long time. I haven't been able to play since high school... and that was revision 2.5. I want to play around with the new rules.
Noola2009-01-26 17:54:26
I've never played DnD, but I've always kinda been curious about it.
Ashteru2009-01-26 18:27:48
Not a gamer. Not time for it.

2.5 is my favorite. I love all the campaigns available, and we would play around adding in monsters as playable races.

I've played 3 and 3.5, and 3.5 is definately more newbie-friendly, but the races are limited, and that makes me a sad panda. Also, you can't play 3.5 without a map and figures, which is lame.

I consider myself a gamer. I play IRE games, WoW, console, and pen and paper games.

I'm currently playing DnD with 8 (sometimes 9 people) PLEASE take some of them!

I think it takes us about 2 hours just to start actually playing!

Umm, I'm playing 3.5 without any figures or maps. I'm not sure why you think you need figures and maps for 3.5.

And umm, what is 2.5?
Laysus2009-01-26 21:08:44
I play muds, wow, variety of xbox and pc games, variety of pen & paper stuff (d&d 3.5, corporation, Victoriana, Warhammer Fantasy RP, Puppetland), MtG, random assorted other games, and live action RP. Think that's most of the things.

Oh, and if you don't upgrade your videocard every 18 months, you really aren't a gamer anymore tongue.gif (Well, atleast, if you don't stongly desire to change your video card 18 months. Sometimes you just don't have the funds to fulfill your gaming needs)

Not all of us use the computer for such purposes.
