We need a special arena for large events like Aetolia has. As it stands, it's very unfair to teams without mages/druids because the entire arena gets melded. In the process of running out of an enemy meld, you ending up crossing 2-3 others and get sniped.
Narsrim2009-01-31 20:50:41
To give a fantastic example, the Avenger arena is 83 rooms. Two mages (with a 200cr artifact rune) can meld the ENTIRE arena. Two people! That's ridiculous. We need an arena that is around 400-500 rooms.

I concur!

Seems like a pretty large expenditure of builder resources for a once-a-year event.
If nothing else is on the agenda (hah!), might as well work for a larger arena though.

Why? It doesn't need custom room descriptions to be functionable, and they could be added as time permitted. The Inner Sea is a huge area, but I'm sure it took very little time to build compared to say Faethorn.

They mostly seem to be moving away from the generic "every room looks alike" thing. I seem to recall a semi-recent posting where an Admin said it wasn't liked at all, when a previous building suggestion was brought up. Could be misremembering, however.

Crystal Meadows, Shattered Earth, Glacial Sea.
For something like this, I don't think that is really an issue. It's an arena for combat, not a centre of RP.

Have yet to visit those. I'll take your word for it though.

Running away from demesnes is lame. Areas so big that demesnes need not touch are likewise lame, because demesne holders who suck at turf battles camp and wait, then pick up and move when they feel the pressure. Stack up the arti knight and his two monk friends, kill the mages, and move on with your life. The better solution is to allow 200 room demesnes in the arena again.

You don't have to leave your demesne once it is cast. It should, however, be possible for someone else to leave it.

Has it really been that long since you've held a demesne? You do have to leave your demesne once it is cast or fights take forever. Demesnes aren't portable.

In situations like these, it's expected that a team without a demesne must fight a team with a demesne in said demesne. If people camp, the administration nudges in this direction. However, it's silly that if you don't have a mage/druid then you have to stand in an enemy demesne because the entire arena is melded.

If an area has repeating room descriptions/titles, it's for an IC, RP reason. Elemental Planes always do. The crystal lattice on the ethereal plane does, and for a reason.
Think about it for a moment. How useful would scry etc be in an arena where there's 500 some rooms with identical descriptions and room titles?

Why do you keep going without a demesner?
I mean, after this rant, you just did the same team again.
Edit: And, further, it seems like your team is doing okay even without a demesner.
