Could it be made so that if an organization successfully takes a village in a revolt, they would not be able to take the other?
It would make sense, too: Why would Estelbar follow someone who also has Acknor under its control?
(Yes, this is in response to the Southgard spree. )

Wouldn't really change anything. The good/bad teams would still work together, just more concentrated and directed in their efforts.

It already sort of works like that. But as Sadhyra said, that's not the issue. The issue is something that mechanics just won't be able to fix.

Competitors:
-Stewartsville and Delport are competitors in the rope trade.
-Angkrag and Dairuchi are competitors in the silk trade.
Hostile:
-Acknor and Estelbar are hostile to each other.
-Southgard and Rockholm are hostile to each other.
-Shanthmark and Paavik are hostile to each other.
Enemies
-Southgard and Rockholm both refuse to be influenced by anyone who is a
a member of the city or commune that controls Angkrag.
For example, Stewartsville resists being influenced by a city that controls
Delport (and vice versa), Acknor resists being influenced by a city that
controls Estelbar (and vice versa), etc. Both dwarven villages are enemies
of Angkrag, i.e., Rockholm will refuse being influenced by a city that
controls Angkrag.
EDIT: That's from the HELP VILLAGEINFLUENCE scroll.

To put into more detail, it takes far more effort/time for someone holding Rockholm to take Southgard, or Paavik if you hold Shanthmark, etc, than it would to take them if you did not.
And it is impossible to hold either dwarf villages if you hold Angkrag.

I don't think it's impossible to hold Angkrag if you hold either dwarf villages though.

Psh, why SHOULD it be hard or impossible? For Mag and Glom at least, the village influence messages seem to indicate that's it's all about the power, and not about harmonious, benevolent protection. Ghengis Khan never cared which rival tribes were having which wars when he brought them together under his banner!

I believe that if you influence both the other mining villages first, you can then influence Angkrag after (if it's still open). You just can't influence Angkrag first.

Not by the help file. It just says you can't influence the others if you already have Ankgrag.

While I kinda agree in theory, I can't help but think of this: Hallifax and Gaudiguch both hated each other, but both were still part of the Holy Celestine Empire, and the Forests, who didn't like any of the cities, still at least had some relations with the Empire. I don't see one nation controlling opposing villages much differently.

That's a really good point. Isn't the point of influencing and persuasion to get them to believe that you're who they should be following? It's just playing the convincing game and that's what influence is all about.
EDIT: Or is this little rule supposed to stop one organization from acquiring all of the villages?

Thought so, which makes sense.

What we need is a village that can only be influenced by the organization than continually fails at influencing to make them feel like they've accomplished something worthwhile whenever they feel bad for getting beat down.

You mean like all those undead in Angkrag?
I didn't actually realise they couldn't be influenced by non-lich/crowcloak, even during a revolt. I thought that restriction was lifted.

We do have one. It's just that we never go for the easy ones and take the challenges. Why you would do that to yourself, I don't know, but there we have it.

Speaking from experience....
1 person can solo influence all of Angkrag... give me that crowcloak
