What if I aggressively ask a question that passively suggests people do something different from what they are doing?

WHY DON'T YOU JUST ASK THE QUESTION AND FIND OUT!?

(I think it's just labeled "meaniehead")

If it -is- that hard, the payoff should make it worth it. I'm all for RP, but seriously, RP isn't enough of a reward to bash your way to demigod. Talking the admins into an extreme would do nothing but ruin an aspect of the game and frankly, bashing is a huge aspect in any ire game.

It's funny, because back before any of the demi nerfs, when very few combatants had it, demi benefits were viewed mostly as RP and it irritated all the RPers who wanted them that they'd have to bash forever to get them, instead of "rewards" that would be more in line with... someone who bashes forever.

Does this mean when more Ascendants come around, it's not gonna be cool anymore because a bunch of other people have it too?

This already exists, to a certain extent, and it is more pungent a feeling than the insurgence of demigods. Ascendants are supposed to be like the chosen: paragons of their organizations and all they stand for. If half of an org are ascendants, then yes, I think it loses a certain feeling or quality to it. Demigod is just something you determine to get on your own, some people just don't like the idea of others having an easy time getting it when they invested so much more to get the same thing.

Noola2009-02-11 23:25:43
I just wanna point out that it's all well and good to say, "If too many people have it, it's not special anymore!" but that's pretty crappy for the folks who haven't gotten it yet and want it. It's like you're saying to them, "Hey, that thing that others have and you want, if you actually get it, you're making the game suck. I think to make the game not suck, then it should be impossible for you to reach your goal. Sorry. Shoulda done it faster, before it became overcrowded!"

I want to get to Demigod and I don't care if, when I get it, I'm one of 50,000 Demigods. I want to become an Ascendant, and I don't care if there are 50,000 Ascendants already when I get it. I still think it'd be the coolest thing since sliced bread.

It's equally as bad for those who put forth the effort it takes to get demigod. I haven't done it here, but if it's anything like Achaea's dragons, it's a chore. After having gone through all that to get it, then have it become absolutely meaningless, is utterly frustrating and a horrid way to treat people who play and do it.

If players want it, they should have to put in the effort it takes to get it instead of crying and getting it nerfed into oblivion. Which pretty much just gives those who did go through all that trouble a good kick.

Oh, by no means should it be meaningless! That would really suck for everyone. And, in Lusternia (this is a bit of sarcasm), the accepted way to get things changed is to whine on the forums and brandish your own replica of the Nerf stick until someone gives in to your childish ways.

And getting Demi is a chore, but at least here in Lusternia, there is no such thing as XP loss-- there are so many freely available things that prevent you from losing XP that getting Demi isn't the unreachable goal it used to be. Even I plan on making Demi... eventually... sometime...

Was that to me? Cause I don't want it nerfed? confused.gif I want it to stay as is (or add some of those nifty RP perks folks keep mentioning as well!). I just want to be able to get it one day is all, without being guilt-tripped that my accomplishment has somehow added to the downfall of the game.
Unknown2009-02-11 23:36:10
Oh, no no. I don't want it nerfed either, Noola. I'm a basher who likes to pretend she dabbles in pk, only to find she sucks at it. It was directed at those who are wanting it nerfed, not you. I just don't quote enough, it seems. smile.gif

They "nerfed" the equiv of demis in Aetolia (ie, balanced them to not be uber OP) and people didn't really complain, nor did the rate of getting them slow down. This was helped partially by RP benefits, such as the Havens system.

Then don't. As more people play and stay, it's inevitable that more and more will reach the end-game goals. It's the how more so than the what in this case.

It's official then.

Demigods are Lusternia's Social Security.

This is one of the (not the only) reason many online games have level cap raises, whether just as needed, or in expansions.

Also as someone stated earlier, it makes sense that you get out what you put in. Even if it is seemingly unfair to those not able to put in as much as others.
Daganev2009-02-12 00:57:11
I think people are forgetting that the difficulty level of gaining demigod in Lusternia has greatly shifted over time. It has shifted to be both easier and harder for people at different stages of the game. Everyone complains when the change happens, and nobody complains 2 months later.
Roark2009-02-12 01:32:50
Covens are capped regardless of your influence skill.

Also, unity has been turned on again.

No one bashes in groups larger than 12 other than prenerf Astral.

I hear they are going to turn Ethereal Glomdoring into a 40 man raid soon.

That is huge.
Unknown2009-02-12 01:55:09
I think a 40-man would be just a -tad- bit of overkill. Really, all you need is Narsrim and a cubix...
