Communes aren't the only ones with fear immunity, Harmony monks get it too, and since only Three classes in an entire commune can get it, and one on Celest its hardly OP in any way. Sure fear is annoying, but like I keep getting told, try composing

My most favorite quote was, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

OMG the Celenwilde bias! its now proven and announced! Fear still shouldnt have an immunity when it can be passive unless everyone can get it (skill in discipline plz?)
Unbiased group break plz?
Which reminds me, I wish I had a skill like rad rune
Gwylifar2009-02-19 15:42:34
Actually, a def which gives you a chance to resist Fear would make good sense as a way to give Discipline something it could use, while still leaving true fear-immunity skills special.
Shiri2009-02-19 15:46:40
A def like sitting, being hindered in any way, or doing anything, perhaps.

I believe things like passive fear which can stop soulless, music instas, chasm, judgement, and such should either work on everyone equally or be shruggable equally. If I have transcended discipline I should be DISCIPLINEd enough to shrug off fear in combat.
You still fail as a collective conciousness, back to real ideas and less of your 'dont stop fearaura' that you seem to be talking about
Gwylifar2009-02-19 15:55:58
Sitting and being hindered aren't really defenses since they stop most of most people's offense far more than fear itself would have.

Rofl. We're busting out the "you ... fail" now? Risky, Malarious, very risky. Especially since you were already quoted in this thread!
Only ascendants have -passive- fear which does those things, and in group combat that's not even out of line, especially when there is a way you can cancel it (which you'll figure out if you think carefully or ask someone else.) In solo you could probably make that case, but "everyone resists fear" is clearly a retarded solution.
And did you seriously just try to use an RP justification for randomly adding a skill to stop stuff other people have?
EDIT: That's right, Gwylifar, but if being hindered WASN'T a defence, you'd get feared out all the time if you were hindered while waiting for eq to "do anything" again. For example, if I hit Thoros, and he waited 3s, then webbed me, I'd regain eq while still writhing and get booted out by the aura. So it does matter.
EDIT: Incidentally, if that were the only valid complaint, the only ones of those people with -any- resistance to fear are paladins and guardians. City bias!?
Vathael2009-02-19 16:24:05
....There is a skill in the game that stops fear.. it's called Rubeus.
Everiine2009-02-19 16:30:51
I lol'd "Different skills = unbalanced". While we're on the subject, can I have trueheal, lich, sacrifice, inquisition, and choke? I don't have anything like them, therefore the game is unbalanced. Gimme.
Gregori2009-02-19 17:03:13
Wait... are you all seriously arguing with Malarious?
I mean... come on... even Celina has better rebuttals.

Wolf Totem?
Gwylifar2009-02-19 18:36:14
I didn't mean that a universally available fear-defense is necessary, I just think it's a good idea as a means to extend the feeble Discipline skillset. It's one that makes sense there logically, and if it were only a percent chance to resist, say 50% at trans, it wouldn't significantly devalue fear skills or existing fear-resist skills (Rubeus and Wolf). Heck, make it have a mana drain too if you think it'd devalue those too much. But it still provides a good answer to "what can we do to make Discipline less pathetic" that makes sense. Sheesh.

Does wolf give a resistance to fear?
Narsrim2009-02-19 21:14:20
Wolf Totem grants immunity to fear + scent
Sarrasri2009-02-19 21:29:36
Actually, recently, I've been noticing that Wolf totem doesn't give complete fear immunity, just a really high resistance. I even notice I get hit with fear every now and then when it's not mob given. It doesn't even say fear immunity in the AB.

Yes, and it works how many times before it's stripped?
Maybe wolf totem should be stripped after you are feared a few times. Right?
Balance, and all that.

Sure, then Rubeus can cost five power if you're feeling lazy. You know, balance and all that.
