Bump.
I live in Tuscaloosa, AL, but would totally drive to GA for a meet or something. Would be fun as long as we're not all carrying laptops, sitting in a cafe and just playing Lusty. I'm inclined to believe some people would totally do that.

So I did a search for Alabama and this is the only thread that popped up. I'm in the Northwest corner at a very crappy university. -sigh-
And Mississippi is better than Alabama. The people are way nicer anyhow. It was kind of a shock to drive an hour away from home and come into contact with the crappiest drivers and some of the rudest people I've ever met. At least it's not as humid over here though..

Atlanta is fine. Its the cesspool that you step into once you go OTP that is the problem.

My soul might live in Georgia...and that's all I'm saying.

Who is margaret cho, Eventru? And I'm also from Georgia. I live in Athens and Newnan - one for college and one for my parents home.

A popular asian-american comedian in certain sub-cultures. Amazing stand-up, however raunchy and sexual it can get sometimes. She was there filming Drop Dead Diva, though she's left by now. Likewise, I packed up and left at the end of the summer - back to my sunny happy place!
EDIT: And Athens, nice - I'd been once or twice with some friends. A-typical drunken college town. Newnan, I'm not familiar with. I really didn't go OTP much, except when I lived in Roswell - Dawsonville was okay, so long as I didn't have to interact with the yocals. Cumming was entertaining, as well.

Newnan is 3 minutes away from peach tree city. Athens is lovely! I hate frat boys and soristitutes, so luckily for me there is a very large art and music culture there as well.
Where is your sunny happy place? It's sunny here!

Today. Wasn't it only about a few weeks ago Hotlanta was working hard on becoming Hotlantis?! No thank you! I'll keep my beaches and ocean. Floridian for life, man.

You know you can't get enough of atlanta. Did you ever eat at Figo, by the way? Quite possibly my favorite place to eat in all of the ATL

No, I haven't - and I do plan on going back to visit friends and such, but I've no plans nor desire to move back there.
I was more of a Joe's on Juniper/Cowtipper's/Quattro/Willie's/Jason's Deli sort. Mostly because it was all walking distance from my place, heh, and most of it was right on/near the park, and all my neighbors/friends/etc were working at those restaurants.

I love Dawsonville! They have the largest kangaroo collection outside of Australia!

Do they? My only real memory is when I went to the outlet malls and spent a butt-ton of money (it's somewhere close to a thousand dollars - let's not get in on specifics here) on some clothes on Black Friday with my best friend's mother and her best friend. Ahh, memories.
That, and meeting said mother's best friend's family the day before, and didn't understand that when her husband said, 'We cracked this open this morning' he literally meant he went down to his basement, where he was brewing it, and cracked open the container. I... Did not do well, to say the least - my first experience with home-brewed alcohol (beyond my grandfather's blackberry brandy) did not go well!

I love Jason's Deli! We have one in Athens as well and the salad bar is AeffingMazing! I'll probably be living in atlanta in a year for school (GA state) and I am partially dreading it because I'll be so completely broke what with all the food, music and art the city has to offer.

At least you didn't say 'culture', because the city collectively has the culture of a small, jagged rock.
However, I regret not going in with my friend on getting year-round access to the museum - there were a lot of really cool exhibits, and going to see stuff like King Tut, the Terracotta Warriors, etc was just beyond words. I am, however, a history geek.
Music scene's pretty cool. Food wasn't so much a cost to me as drinking was - I mean, how can you go see a folk music exhibition and not be drinking cider?
And, Georgia State. I just. Well. Georgian Education. 'Nuff said.

Ione didn't you know that time keeps marchin' on, the coldest hour is the one comes just before the dawn. The devil's back in Georgia - will he stand up to the test, or will the devil be the best?
