So, I'm looking to work on DMing in 4e, aaand I thought you guys would be some great test subjects. It would just be a basic campaign straight out of a book (obviously with my own flair, hopefully) to get some practice in. It would be play by post to start, with a requirement of maybe 1 post a day so we can keep it all moving.
We'd be using invisiblecastle.com for dice roles and myth-weavers.com for character sheets.
I'm looking for 5 people who'd like to play. So, post here if interested!
Basics: All races/classes allowed, including characters from the MM. All supplements/articles allowed, though if it's from the articles, you may need to give the info on the feat/power/feature, since I don't have a DDi subscription at the moment. Characters should be level 1, and not too outrageous background-wise, given that this is something to get me used to it and it's not really going anywhere--however, since that's the case, it also means I don't care if you want to run a Drow in the middle of this little human village-setting.
Players:
1. daganev - Ralzik - Warlock (Infernal)
2. Isuka - Tsuujin - Fighter
3. Gaetele - Kuro - Warlord
4. Bali - Zorga - Rogue
5. Ytraelux - Aesamar - Wizard

The last one failed miserably, but sure I'll play.

Yeah, I know, but I've seen them work on a few forums, so, I'm hopeful, especially since this is a short pre-made campaign. Also, using invisiblecastle allows players to manage their own rolls and makes things move a little more quickly.

4e is a great idea for people like me, who haven't been able to find a D&D group since 2.5e...
What's the cost requirement in getting up to date with 4e?

All you'd really need is the Players Handbook (Players Handbook 2 is coming out in about a week, but eh, not a requirement).
Though, if you were super interested, you can get a subscription to DDi (via Wizards of the Coast) which gives you access to every book and article for like $8 a month or $50 a year.
However, for the sake of playing here, since it's just a nice little game, we can work around that requirement in certain ways. So, it'd be free if you'd be interested in playing.
Edit: Really, 4e is so simple that it could be as quick as PMing you a few passages, and explaining the rest as it goes. It's all incredibly stream-lined. So much nicer than 3.5e, that's for sure.

All right, I'd be interested if you don't mind someone who needs a refresher after years of having not played.

That's totally fine, since I'm in the same boat with DMing

Yeah. No reason why you can't.

feel free to find me a better pic for my char!
edit: also, any links to find ideas /rp /level up paths for my char would be welcome as well.
I originally made this char with the idea of a celestian in mind, and now I can't remember what I originally read to get the idea.

I'll play, so long as the game doesn't turn into some sort of mafia version.
By the way, please tell me your REAL last name isn't "Bushpeck"

I refuse to touch 4e again until PHB2 comes out. Mostly because everybody claiming 4e is 'more balanced' than 3.5 is kidding themselves.
edit: I actually might, depending on the crowd and if I can or cannot play a Warlord.

Why would it turn into some sort of mafia version? *confused*

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. However, if you wanted to play a Warlord, that'd be fine--however, if you're going to be negative or power-gamery to prove a point, then I'm not sure if this is the right game for you, since it's partially a learning experience. Otherwise, you're welcome to play.

Because the recent mafia games have all turned into Choose-Your-Own-Adventure games

My first time making a character/playing d&d. Yeesh it was time consuming. Glad I had the three 4e sourcebooks on pda.

If you'd rather try something a little more realtime, /suptg/ has opportunities for both players and dms over irc. Just in case this doesn't work out, horribly entertaining as playing a sorcerer or insidious pact warlock is.
Yes, I'm a nerd.

I've obtained copes of the core books, and have created a character. Let's hope this is fun!
