Getting Demigod?

At the same time, Astral is ridiculously risky and could get me killed even if I blinked for more than a second.

Risk and Returns are directly proportional.

Firstly, no it isn't directly proportional, and secondly you can get a ridiculous amount of XP in the time it takes you to die and lose much less, making it pretty much guaranteed a high net gain.

Pretty much any time we hunted Astral with about five people, give or take, and someone died after bashing for about 15 minutes, they would say they were still up. And these aren't low level people, either. You can't really do this anywhere else.

Without magnificent criticals and a demigod entourage, it's pretty scary up there. Solo linking is manageable, but I popped up earlier and found that someone linked Capricorn without cleaning up, leaving 9-odd goats running around which I had to do one by one. After which there was a room with three in which I probably would've died.

Normal critters on astral are fine, but linked aren't. Not to mention the probability that Dysolis or Narsrim would come up and kill me. It's happened a couple of times at least.

Like I said, group astralbashes are awesome, solo isn't. I saw Kelysa shoot from 94 to Titan in a week or two just from going on astralbashes with Seren Demigods. sleep.gif

Who honestly even gets demigod by themselves these days? Besides the silly influencers. tongue.gif

I clearly need to get friends.

Only reason it took a week was cause we were also lazy. You should get in on that!

But really, astral's risk vs. reward gets very skewed the moment you start making friends.

Yes, big, big demigod ascendant friends. I got into one of those astral hunts, and as a result, put me off normal bashing cause it was so slow in comparison. dry.gif

Take me! biggrin.gif
Vashner2009-03-03 11:04:36
Exactly how many demigod friends is this going to take? From here-say I get that the magic number is three.
Serella2009-03-03 12:39:16
Does this mean antisocial people can never get demigod? losewings.gif

(Or at least, moderately shy people without demigod friends)

You can, you just get the slow, boring route instead of the fun, easy route.

I think you meant people-who-log-on-at-off-peak-times-without-demigods-in-your-org-let-alone-demigod-friends.
Isn't it lucky that I'm an influencer? Too bad I don't have the willpower to bash/influence to Demigod. I've never intended to gain Demigod the moment I started. I'd have quit long ago if that was my goal.
Eamon2009-03-03 15:02:58
Take heart, you off-hours, kind of shy people! From 80-100, I went on one single astral-bash that got me 5% of titan. I would have gotten it solo anyway, but the big friends thing makes it go much quicker.

Getting there alone basically means, as Brahms said, that you've got a lot of determination. Consistency helps too, especially at titan when your experience level creeps up oh so very sloooowly. If you can net a percent or two a day at that level and keep that up for a few weeks (ok, months tongue.gif), you're well on your way.

One of my main problems is that Tynghall isn't a very sociable sort, so, he doesn't have many friends. Much less friends that are Demigods.

Though, I do wish Rika didn't quit glom. She was fun to go bashing with, and it made levels go by oh so quickly.

And also, just to clarify to everyone, I don't expect the grind to be simple or easy, nor am I looking for the "get demigod quick" scheme. I'm just, generally, asking what things people did to help make the grind less painful.
Unknown2009-03-04 04:29:26
I'm politically opposed to all the Demibashers in Celest but Steingrim, but fortunately, I DO have the option of bugging Stein or Pharamon to take me bashing should the mood strike.

Unfortunately for the mood, I've got un-nerfed spiritsinger defense up.

Just went on a big, sprawling bashing tour of the Basin led by Estwald. It was a lot of fun! I didn't do a lot of socializing, but even having other people there to share some of the workload and give advice is a huge load off.

I too have this problem. Maybe having anti-social friends whose only mutual interest is getting to Demigod will help?

Hmm... How scary do you have to be to tag along on these things?

Mir is circle 73 now, 4500 health or so.

Mir has a lot of friends... not too many of them demigod, but enough.
