Topics for Envoy Summit

I'm planning on holding a meeting with the envoys in the next few weeks.

This is your chance to post concerns primarily relating to skill and combat balance in Lusternia for the envoys to look over and include in the discussion.

Please be constructive and explain your reasoning.
Narsrim2009-03-02 02:35:09
What envoy changes will be announced prior to this meeting? There are a lot of big changes in the working.
Narsrim2009-03-02 02:36:08
Also when is the special report for Harmony going to be addressed? I don't know if special envoy reports are like fine wine, but it's seriously getting aged.
Shiri2009-03-02 02:40:41
Yeah...at this rate the discussion will likely be centred on monks, which is kinda pointless.
Charune2009-03-02 02:42:11
I'm still waiting on the monks report to be submitted.

The Harmony report will hopefully be done soon, but I don't think Harmony is creating major combat imbalances right now so I'm not sure how it would be relevant to the scope of this meeting.

The envoy changes for February will be out before any meeting.

1. The disparity between chop and reality check
- Chop requires you to learn a skill and carry an axe, unwield left/right item, wield axe, chop, unwield axe, wield left/right item. While Reality check simply requires
you to learn a skill.
2. The disparity between sapling and illusion terrain
- Illusion terrain stops anyone from changing the terrain of the room. Sapling has no impact on druids of the same guild if the sapling is one of that guilds and only
slows down druids of another guild. It does not require being removed for druid on druid combat.
3. The lack of kill methods for Druids outside of Saplock and slow kill (which as people who actually spend time learning to cure is getting harder and harder to pull off)
- Hartstone has multiple kill methods none of them truly viable. Blacktalon Has the same issue sharing many of the same skills, though the mana kill is probably more
viable than any of Hartstone's.
4. The disparity in demesne effects between Hartstone and Blacktalon.
- They have 1 more effect than Hartstone.

I have others, but it is sleepy head time and I can't think of them.

Combat only? Can I raise skill issues like Bookbinding and Influence?
Krackenor2009-03-02 03:26:08
are there any plans on making mage bashing faster? While I cannot comment on the bigger picture, having only ever been a mage, I have been able to compare and contrast.

I've been mage, guardian, bard, and knight. Mage bashing suuuuuucks. shocked.gif (Though I'm not sure how it compares to guardian. Pretty close I'd say)

CODE
The fact that my instakill is stopped by regen to gut.

Tahtetso's is easy to pull off. Shofangi's is random, but works. Nekotai's works somewhat easily. Mine is cured by a freaking vial of regen.

CODE
Some sort of tradeskill liason for envoys, for artisan/forging/whatnot problems.

CODE
On that note, my crappy Trans Artisan skill. Come in handy? Sure. Not 1715 lessons worth of handy.

CODE
The fact that statues hit on the rooftops, making the skill in stealth worthless. And with the Rushing change, Truss is somewhat worthless.

CODE
Something for the IDEA command that works like BUG and ISSUE does. Keep a list, and when someone checks it, they can post a response. IDEA I think Charune should give me cookies RESPONSE No. He ate them all.

Just a few things I think would be just peachy for envoys to speak about, since my own guild envoy isn't terribly active, and doesn't speak to me anyway.
Shamarah2009-03-02 03:43:51
I don't know whether this is something that needs to be brought up at the envoy summit or not, but I'd really like to see something done about guardian scourge/wrath.

Scourge/wrath is what makes our demon/angel hit with two attacks instead of one, for five rounds, for ten power. Obviously, it's a great skill and it's absolutely integral to our offense - which is a problem. Essentially, we have to use our ent attacks with ridiculous caution, because if we run out of the double hits we're basically screwed; either we can try to kill the opponent with our ent at half-power, which doesn't really work, or if we want to put wrath/scourge back up, we have to wait to have 10p, use all of it, then wait until we have 10p again to actually start an offense back up. No other class relies on something with such a limited time window that costs so much power to put back up; wiccan ents don't lose power if they keep attacking, warriors don't lose all their wounds if they hit parry a couple times, monks easily regenerate momentum, etc.

I don't know exactly what should be done about this, but it needs changing. Maybe a reduction in power cost to 5p? I'm not sure.

I agree with all of this. I propose the following changes:

-Yeah, make ninjakari burstorgans insta-instakill. Don't change bonecrusher burstorgans, though. You know, because bonecrushers have a magical button they press to stop people from curing.
-Make a stealth skill that lets you drag people into the rooftops and push them back onto the ground all in one go. The velocity they reach from their fall means even levitation won't help them. Does quadruple the amount of damage of a normal falling, breaks all limbs and gives a concussion.
-Rushing back to what it was, and make it give two levels of balance boosting while you're at it.

On second thought, no.

In summary: Monks are OP, and like Shiri/Narsrim said, at the rate the (third?) monk report is going, this meeting will just be about monks.

Heh. You want to downgrade Pathtwist for a new effect?
Shamarah2009-03-02 03:46:04
Oh yeah, and please fix monks.

Also also, I want to see something done about how reliant on luck balance-locks on crucify are... but I have no idea where to go with that.

I'll piggy back on that.

Bookbinding
Gold Outlay:
-Why does it exist? It has been stated that Bookbinding is for RP, yet it contains, at its core, one of the most baffling mechanics, moreso than using gold to mend robes. The gold outlay is so high that people will rarely buy the better book, even if they want it to begin with. If they gold outlay MUST, please explain why this is so. And if it must stay, can we lower it?

Skill Variety:
-Fully half of the unique abilities in bookbinding (11/22) are copies of themelves. Of those 11 books, 5 of them are EXACT copies of one another, except one is labeled Personal and another Organization. This is different than say, Herbs, in which each ability resembles itself, but does a wholly different thing. However, each and every ability in Herbs is built for utility and is vital to the game. It is not an RP skill.
-Bookbinding is the only skill I am aware of that has a single, identical ability (LANGUAGE) repeat itself 5 times. While it does add something each time, this ability repeating itself in this fashion also limits what else can be added to Bookbinding.
-Of the 26 total abilities in Bookbinding, 11 of them are books, 5 of them languages, 5 of them Magic Scrolls, and the other 4 are unique. I'll throw the Magic scrolls with the unique items, since, unlike the different books, the different scrolls are unique and have distinctily different effects depending on the scroll. This is not so with books. The final count then is 9 unique abilities, and 16 copycats. This is not an RP skill-- it is a boring skill.

I think that covers it for me for now.

Monks were the very first thing mentioned the moment he brought this up on envoys (long before it came to the forums), so he already knew it was an issue. I imagine this is supposed to be "for other things besides monks".

1. Dreamweaving being riddled full of bugs again.

2. Dreamweaving...needs a better report but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

3. What Shamarah said.

4. I lied

I'll gladly trade. The ability for it to be reliable over a gigantic dice roll.

Yes, because people aren't getting Demi fast enough as it is rolleyes.gif
