Would it be possible to put some sort of wait time on market ads? For instance, a person wouldn't be able to spam the channel? Maybe a 5 to 10 second wait between ads?
Just a suggestion.

I agree!

I disagree.

Isn't there already a thing where you can only do two at a time or something? That seems like plenty of limitation to me since sentence length is also limited.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I don't use market very much aside from keeping it on while looking for cheap deals and such. It just looks like some people have one alias that sends two full sentence market ads at once. Then, they simply repeat the same ads every few moments. Which would be ok if it weren't spammy and obvious.
It really isn't a big deal though. I just thought it'd do away with a bit of annoyance.

I think market ads should be limited to five words.
Seeking a forger.
Selling herbs.
Buying sparkleberry.
Offering souls for credits.

I like it when people get creative and make me laugh with their innuendos and puns on Market.
Unknown2009-03-03 20:54:20
How often are you talking about these people repeating their market stuff? I used to do this but I'd repeat every 20 minutes or so. I don't really notice many repeating ads nowadays that repeat so often that it gets annoying. Perhaps I'm just not around during those times ...

I don't like this idea.
Unknown2009-03-04 01:32:29
I like this idea for the simple reason that I'm seeing more and more market chat that involves one person spouting two or three things in quick succession. They put a low limit on how much you can say in a single market tell, and you're just getting around that by splitting your ad into two or three parts. Just put it in a posted ad and reference it there.

Problem is, some of my more witty (In my own opinion) ads have to be trimmed down because they don't fit. And putting them in an Ad Post would ruin it.

Part of the trouble is organization.
if I go
CODE
MARKET Trans tailor for hire, sewing greatrobes at 2000, seeking an herbalist for sparkleberries
it's too long to be effective, doesn't read well, and is a bit distracting.
If I instead go:
CODE
MARKET Trans tailor for hire, sewing greatrobes from 2000 gold.
MARKET also, seeking an herbalist for sparkleberries.
MARKET also, seeking an herbalist for sparkleberries.
it makes more sense, is easier to read, and doesn't confuse people as much, and therefore appears - less - spam-like than if I were to put it all in one line.
So, I think that two lines should be allowed. Three is excessive, but two should be allowed.

Though if you are doing those two unrelated things, there's no reason you can't space them apart by a minute.
