Pooka

Just wondering what kinda options there are with a pooka? From what I understand it'll let you order an enemy to do something every once in awhile (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong). That being the case, I was just curious as what orders might be worth using. Way I see it they'll likely be off balance and equib, unless you have really good timing, so that kinda cuts options short. I just can't think of anything really interesting to do aside from using it to steal or get someone to start fighting a denizen maybe.

Four words:

ORDER TARGET METAWAKE OFF

But metawake drains mana. Is it better to be able to sprite sleep every 12 seconds and still hafta deal with insomnia or get a toadcurse in faster?

With metawake, they'll just keep sipping. Moondancers thrive off of sleep-lock and metawake is the cure-all for sleep.

I don't think you understand how wiccans fight yet. You aren't going to toadcurse anyone by just lashing over and over, sip+sparkle+scroll will outheal that by far and even if you somehow get them close to half they can just shield a couple times. Most of the time you're going to need to incapacitate them somehow, generally with a sleeplock. As a Moondancer that means you need to get them aeoned while they are asleep with kafe and metawake down. Pooka is the only way of taking metawake down, so that's what you're going to be using it for often.

Ahh ok, thanks for the info. One quick question. How do you strip kafe?

When they sleep, if you hit them with something to make them sleep again, it strips kafe.

I wonder, is ORDER PERSON PUT 50 MANA/HEALING IN PACK a feasible move?

Pooka and Sleep are the backbones of Wiccan combat. You'll get well-acquainted with them. I personally adored Pooka. Shamarah has it right in that you'll mainly be doing 'ORDER @TARGET METAWAKE OFF' pretty much most of the time. However, if you're playing defensive, your Pooka is your best friend in some instances.

But, the hallmark of Wiccans lie in sleeplocks. It's the only way you'll get someone to low enough mana to do a sleeplock. My suggestions are thus:

1.) When you summon your Fae, sic them on you individually and then order them passive immediately when they tic. That way, you can time your fae. Time your Brownie and Pooka a second or two before the others if you can. Create echoes in your system that count down when your Fae are about to tic.

2.) Mainly, your Pooka will serve as a tool for 'ORDER TARGET METAWAKE OFF', but it can be used against Guardians for things like 'ORDER TARGET INVEST DEMON WITH' or 'ORDER TARGET INVEST ANGEL WITH' when you're fighting Guardians. Or, 'ORDER TARGET IND SOULLESS' works when they have a lot of rubs on you.

Against other Wiccans, and I suppose this one could work against Wiccans too is 'ORDER TARGET ORDER ENTOURAGE KILL TARGET'. It's not foolproof, but it works against most that don't automatically set them back on you. You can make warriors sip their own poisons. You can also order Secrets and Dig if you need a breather from attacks. But mostly, you'll be consigned to ORDER TARGET METAWAKE OFF.

Wiccan combat is all about fast afflicting and precise timing. If you need help, I'm more than happy to give you a few suggestions IG.

@Caerulo: No, not really.

If you create Lusternian aliases overwriting certain commands, will that defeat pooka? If I Lusternia alias metawake off to be "eyebrow", if someone tries to pooka me, will I eyebrow them instead?

No.

Other classic uses of force:

smoke coltsfoot (strips insomnia)
writhe (wastes balance, works while the target is off balance)
kick angel/demon/fae (for ent classes)
drink choleric (used before an aeon in order to waste purgative balance and thus delay aeon curing)
drink (using this on slickness followed by a dwhammy asthma/anorexia is particularly fun)
drink vitae (wastes power; not sure if this one is still possible)
dig, secrets, search (wastes LOTS of balance, but only works while the target is on balance)
focus body, or any other mana-wasting command (N.B. focus spirit does not work with this anymore)

What you'll be using most of the time, though, is good old "metawake off".

Dominate (and presumably order/command) where changed a long time ago. You can now only make someone manipulate a single item, whether it be rifting, giving, dropping, or putting away. If you try to do more, they'll resist the urge and only do it with one.

Be especially fun if a bard could order people, huh?

*wants to try it sometime on her Cacophony alt*

Don't people usually keep their vitae vials in their packs? I know I do that to protect myself from such moves.

For against bards, can you force them to PLAY FUGUE ADAGIO?
Against Guardians/Wiccans ORDER ENTOURAGE MOVE ?
Against Druids/Mages ORDER DEMESNE DISSOLVE?
Against Monks ORDER KATA TERMINATE?

no

And when you're forcing stuff like vitae, you give it to them in the same alias as the force. It's a bit expensive, but eh.

You can't fugue yourself (be powerful if you could, being able to adagio yourself would be useful at times; it used to be possible while clumsy but that bug just got fixed). What might be more potent is to make them perform their song since many have their song on the last stanza all the time and that'd stop the song completely.

Would you need to know the name of the song? Or just PERFORM SONG would do?

You need to know the name of the song. It's PERFORM SONG .
Unknown2009-03-04 13:56:53
Ah, which was why I asked about fugue instead of perform. Oh well.
