wtf.gif "ward"? Wow, I think I would have to talk to you to get your vowel sounds figured out. Wyrd is supposed to rhyme with weird, for the record.

Well, not exactly ward. It's a cross between 'ward' and 'word'. To me, that is.

And I'm notoriously bad at imagining how something would sound. I've mispronounced far too many words.
Zynna2009-03-04 16:57:58
I've always pronounced it "weird"
Casilu2009-03-04 17:06:17
I've just always pronounced it like 'word'.
Noola2009-03-04 17:19:47
I pronounce 'wyrd' as 'weird' too. And 'wydyr' as 'widder'

But yeah, I mispronounce stuff a lot. Some words (and names! Geez some folks just love coming up with unpronounceable names! laugh.gif ) I just call 'that H word' or 'that W word' or whatever letter it starts with.
Saaga2009-03-04 17:45:21
I don't get you Englishspeakers. I pronounce things as they're written. Wyrd is Wyrd, Wydyr is Wydyr. ohyeah.gif

If attempting English phonetic-sound-things, Wyrd would sound a bit like "Weird" or "Wewrd". Wydyr would be "Wewdewr."

(EDIT: My y is like the german u umlaut for those who know what I speak of!)

EDIT2: And r is the rolling r, imagine Ian McKellen pronouncing Saruman when he's... really angry.

You've been here so long and you didn't know the Planes/Guilds/Nexii/etc?

FOR SHAME.
Aoife2009-03-04 20:41:28
I pronounce Wyrd as Wuerd. It's probably close to the German U umlaut, actually, but with more "ur".
Xavius2009-03-05 00:30:13
The Celts pronounced it "weird." It's not an Estarran word.
Shaddus2009-03-05 00:38:56
Wyrd = Wierd

Wyrdr = Wierder

But it's Wydyr I think. No r before the d!
Unknown2009-03-05 01:32:30
Argh, I thought I could finally imagine how you guys all pronounce Wyrd and Wydyr, but still keep coming up with 'word', 'ward and 'wider'.

I sort of saw it like Wyrm, which is Worm....so if you follow those rules, it will come up to something in between Weird and Word in its pronunciation...maybe like Weord? suspicious.gif

Haha, I know how its supposed to sound. I just can't help mentally pronouncing it that way.

And Estarran. Is that the compulsory language all Monks have to learn?
Unknown2009-03-05 22:52:56
Wyrdr to me is prounounced exactly as it's spelled. Wr-dr

Only its Wydyr, not Wyrdr. Only one r.

I pronounce it Wihd-r

Huh, how did I misread that. In that case, it's Wy-dir.
Unknown2009-03-06 02:56:53
Haha, isn't it Wyrd that a topic on Mag, Glom, Seren becomes just Glomdoring? happy.gif

Shut up. I knew it all at one point, but the stupid mags won't tell ya anything and all the books we have are biased and slanted.
Unknown2009-03-14 21:36:03
Sorry if I really don't give a censor.gif about what Mag did to Celest when I'm trying to read straight facts. People put too much of their own opinion into things. It's not just where the Demon Lords are, it's what they do and how Mag uses it for evil and what evil Mag has used it for...

/rant about the lack of books in Celest/
