hrm, I've been thinking of saving up for an aethercraft, but I've found for me, even though I'm rogue and have access to each org, getting together a crew to be extremely hard.
All in all for me so far: Time to gather crew + time spent bashing < reward from aetherbashing.
The power gathering appeals to me a lot as a rogue, but to gather a crew who would be willing to let you have the power...no chance, also no chance of sharing it as gained from siphoning wouldnt give as much as ordinary linking rations in most orgs would.
Does anyone know about how much gold could be earned in...let's say an hour to 2 hours of aetherhunting, with all modules manned (assuming 3 turrets)?

Not a lot. Especially since a certain group of people got aetherspace nerfed, and dragons upgraded, it's really not worth going out for a short amount of time.

so how much time for it to actually be worth something? If im putting in 1.75mil+ gold I expect to get a decent return in a reasonable amount of time (though it is damn fun!)

I think we went out for a few hours and I came back with 10k+ or so. Right now, it's really not worth it. The stuff worth hunting is too fast to kill in bulk.

Only 10k in a few hours? The times I went out with Kundu and such, keep in mind the main mission was trading particles for spheres, we got about 4000 each (5 person crew) from not even an hour. It all depends on how much turrets you have, and how good your pilot and empath are at their jobs.
In the end I do say its worth it if you have a good ship and a crew who knows what they are doing (and don't get greedy and go after big things like dragons).

For ~900 credits worth of gold, I'd spend it somewhere else -- like an aetherbeast for a pet.

I know most people would. It is currently a choice between a giant manse, or high-end runes. I really wanted the manse for expression though- one of the great things about a MUD. Of course, if no one ever used it, I wouldn't really find it worthwhile.

Yea, no reason you can't save up for both. I bought an aethership/aethershop for fun but I don't use it. It's really just a status symbol at this point.
