Aquamancers DO get a rather minor amount of passive damage. Like...400 each tick, if it's well timed.

I played an Aquamancer alt for awhile, and did fairly alright with it. Mages can be somewhat interesting. Their differences, imo:
Aquamancers are probably the more defensive, as stated before. They're notoriously good at splitting up groups with Whirlpools and Currents, and can passively heal their groups health and afflictions. They're good to have in groups, and you'll be guaranteed to be liked if you can hold a demesne pretty well. Celest lacks pretty talented Aqua's right now. No offense to the current ones. I define pretty talented to Forren. Stillwater/Tsunami are pretty crappy passive damage effects.
Geomancers are definitely more offensive, and will win attrition battles against groups and individuals. PsychicVampirism and passive Hunger will attest to that. Rockslide is painful, and occassional stun/prone tics will add up eventually. Chasm is also pretty damn good with groups, as are Stonewalls. The Black Crypt is probably another incentive for going Geomancer.
All in all, Aqua's were a fun class (in my opinion, though many would differ). Geomancers are definitely cooler. I like the whole insanity RP and their skill set is pretty impressive on a demesne standpoint.

I'd honestly be quite surprised if I was doing 1400 damage from rockslide. Were you sensitive, or was there a bard in the room that was buffing my damage?
But yes, Geos are primarily offensive (bad to enemies), Aquas primarily curing (good to allies). Mages are still highly reliant on passives, and while these passives are more mobile in a local area (specifically, you can expand them to affect up to a 25-room demesne), they're less mobile than vibes over a worldwide scale (where you can focus them to you from anywhere). There's a rough equivalent of being able to use earthquake or whatever to set them all up at once though.

It's always been that high with a properly timed demesne. Definitely not sensitive since it shows up in a lot of logs. Are people remembering their percentage staff damage buff? Could also have been testing against a necromancy user with putre up, whee.

Ceren's demesne
Ur'Guard surged at 9.7k health without putre up was a constant 2k damage each tic
As a Serenguard with 9.3k health, it was a lot less. About 1.6k maybe?
Advice to other Geomancers, get demi and arties or you don't count!

I don't think she means "it's down", she just means "I'd rather have something maintained by one person than by everyone". Just a difference of methodology, wiki collaboration vs. single publisher. If that's the consensus, I'll take Scrying Pool down after Xiel's copied everything he wants from it. It's silly to be splitting our resources updating two things in parallel.
Zynna2009-03-13 15:46:13
I still find the Scrying Pool useful and containing information not in the other one (such as needed herbs for kegs.)

Scrying Pool is a bit outdated, but it's got more useful information. The astrologers of the world need Scrying Pool.
Gwylifar2009-03-13 16:52:43
Well, that's the thing about a wiki: it's as current as we all make it. If those of us who have the information choose to spend a little time updating it, it'll be current; but I'm not about to start trying to cajole people into updating it, it's a voluntary contribution. If we as a group tend not to do the updates unless someone's cajoling us into it, then the single-person approach might work better. (Assuming that single person refuses to work inside the collaborative approach to get the best of both worlds, and also assuming the single person sticks with it and doesn't move on to something else.)
