Ok, my mouse has about packed it in, and I'm getting mixed signals trying to do research, so for gamers with experience: if I can't get another logitech MX700 (the one I've been using for about 5 years, has done a really good job) what's the next best thing in terms of A), identical ergonomics, cool.gif wireless with rechargeable batteries/cradle, and C) tracking quality/refresh rate since I use it for gaming?

Razer DeathAdder has been treating me nicely, unless you want one with customizable weight. Also, you shouldn't use a wireless mouse for gaming!

Logictech G7 gaming mouse. I've had mine for a long time, and I love it.

My ten dollar microsoft mouse makes me feel so inadequate compared to those shiny names, even thuogh I've managed to wear it down so much it has patterns of the callouses of my hands on it.

Don't worry Yrael, you're in "good" company.

I got a Diamondback from the same company. It treats me amazingly well and helps with wrist pain because I can top out the sensitivity and not need to move very far to get results happy.gif

I am bewildered by the fact that there are people who would spend more than $10-20 on a mouse.

I've never understood this either.

Iknowrite?

Tracball ftw! (it's like, 15 years old)

Heh heh, I use my laptop touchpad.

I should probably get a mouse that has a scrollbar, and back/forward buttons but eh, I don't have an extra $20. I would rather spend it on... a new chair for my desk. (It broke 3 months ago, I've been sitting on my bed with an aching neck for what seems like forever now)

I get all my mice, the same way I get my women: cheap and they don't last long.

Seriously, I get my mice from my mom (who's a doctor) getting the cheap advertisement mice from pharmecutical companies. I had a race-car Viagra one for a while, now I have a Lipitor mini-mouse, which is half the size of normal mice.

Lovely mice, I've got their Copperhead, superb quality and I agree about the reduction in wrist pain. If I don't have a good mouse, I suffer.

I paid about £40 for mine I seem to remember. Website says they are going for $70 currently.

It's been working fine for what seems like about 6 years now! Besides, a wired mouse would have to be about 4 metres long to work in this damn room without passing through my torso (ugly setup is ugly, not my fault.)

Thanks for the help guys.

I can't even imagine what is going on in your office.

The reason you pay more for a mouse is when you are actually playing computer games where it *gasp* matters. Spinning an optical mouse as fast as you can will cause your PoV to "scatter", you pay for the increased tracking to reduce that effect, and in the event of a top of the line mouse it will eliminate it.

I was all excited to read about some crazy infestation and subsequent cat adoption frenzy. Tch, just nerd talk. sad.gif

Has its flaws though... I don't like the thumb side, it's too... slick. And side buttons are not in a comfortable reach, but that's just me I guess (never used a mouse that would have them in the right place).

Shiri, you should probably try it out before buying and see if it fits your hand, especially that you've been using one mouse for several years.

I use a Habu, and it's positively wonderful.

Once upon a time, you could get a Razor mouse for $160 that has 1000x the precison of other non optical mice. Then they sold $60 optical mice, and now 10 years later, some people still think you need to buy the expensive mouse for top game performance.
Desitrus2009-03-16 20:20:40
I guess I don't consider 60 bucks expensive, who knew?! Plus, as far as the DeathAdder goes, it's one of the few mice that allows directly-mappable keys under the 64 bit vista OS. Most make you provide a work-around such as changing your push-to-talk key to ScrLk and then re-assigning one of the mouse buttons to ScrLk in the driver; rather than providing the proper hooks for MouseButton4-8.
