I think you miss the point, somewhat, Talan.
If Serenwilde really cared, they could -easily- destroy all of Glomdorings constructs. Celest could do the same to Magnagora. In fact, Celest/Serenwilde could team up and do both in half the time! It's more of a matter with a broken system than it is "Glomdoring is improving" and people trying to bash on that.
For every inch of improvement Glomdoring makes, Serenwilde can improve by a mile (I mean seriously, imagine if those 17 people were in ships... that could be 4+ additional bombards with a sole person on the ground doing the colossi thing). They could potentially take down 1 construct per weakening (surely 1 per 2).

Not entirely. They needed a ground-force to stop our side from focusing/using shields, because even with their full ground force there (AND FOCUSING) I was able to annihilate two Colossi (6,000 health total), while taking about 1500 or so from them. Mostly due to the way scrolls work. I was always geared and the Colossi were always slowed, because the defender can afford to sit there doing the spam-scroll thing.
HOWEVER. If Serenwilde had had their full attack force out and raring to go, they could have easily sported a ground crew and a few ships, and we'd have been screwed.

Why bother?
Shield halves the impact of bombard. They had 2 ships + 17 people on the ground (as I read it). If they put those 17 people in the air and generated let's say 6 additional bombards (which is very feasible), they'd be doing more damage over time through shield than even worrying about you on ground. In fact, the amount of damage would be high enough that they could nuke your construct in 2 weakenings. And come close in 1.
=====+=====
EDIT:
Good luck trying to fight 8 ships too.

I'm still pretty sure that you need a Colossus to actually do the final blow.
Though I suppose you could just bombard, and then do a landing once it's injured to finish it off. :/
However, 6 bombards takes 6 ships (1 bombard per ship).

We (Celenwilde vs. Magnadoring) had 6 bombarders before. It did like nothing. This was without a construct to take down the shield (due to chokemesne) so obviously much worse there, but shield comes down to a ping contest anyway.
EDIT: Also, 8 of those people would need like gifted aethercraft which there is just no way they're going to do. Most people who even afford the lessons for it have commander for flashpoints.
Narsrim2009-03-16 04:27:49
It's also cheaper.

It does half damage, no? How is that nothing?

All I know is that they were still almost fully healed by the end of the weakening. Add fishkegs and the fact that a weakening may well proc at like 12 noon when we barely have one bombarder, let alone 8, and the difference is huge.
EDIT: I have no idea where Xen is getting this "construct has to do the last blow" btw, so I'm not even taking that into account when considering the feasibility (though it may be true.)

I have to say, the only difference I notice without the Altar is that people cry a whole lot more on CT about how hard life is without teleport night. I lost my +1 dex and my twenty minutes of regeneration. Oh noes. The Font was at least useful.
It's not a very engaging conflict medium either. As much pleasure as I derived from frustrating Alianna with scrolls (BTW, if you ignored the scrolls, your damage output would go up. It's too easy to play with your mind.), there's only room for one person on each team taking part. Otherwise, it's just a negligible ground war and some aetherspace work. I hope you're having fun up there in aetherspace, because the rest of it is pretty pointless.
Were it my call to make, I would actually seriously consider not rebuilding. It might be worth 90k power to not have to listen to noobs cry about how hard the Tower of Hanoi puzzle is, but Talan seems pretty annoyed at all the emo wailing and would probably support an effort to crack down on them. OOCly, the conflict there just isn't interesting, and ICly, that's a lot of power to be tossing around for an imaginary gain.

When there's no ground force focusing negatively, and a ground force focusing positively, sparkle heals better. It also now works on a 4s balance (with gears up). I think it can get up to +25h every 4s or so. Minus 8 seconds for the gears. So +325 health every minute.
This does, however, use construct balance now-- so if there's a colossus there fighting, you can't spend your time healing.
@Nejii: That was the scuttlebutt back when these things first came in and Bombard was introduced. I don't remember at this point if it was Admin-mentioned or not.
Narsrim2009-03-16 04:34:29
Heh. I may just bombard one of Celest's constructs to find out next time we have a weakening!

Been a long time since I was bombarded (was once today, but there was something screwy with it-- I didn't actually get the message, just noticed ~500 missing health suddenly). Had shield up.

Going through (read: killing) a single colossus, let alone two, is not a landmark achievement. It's amazingly easy.

So is killing an unmanned Construct. You seem pleased anyways.
Urazial2009-03-16 05:27:17
So is blowing up the Night Altar but eh....
Shiri2009-03-16 05:28:02
Night alar would be hard if it were piloted consistently. Colossi...not so much.

But that's the point. It wasn't. It was unmanned almost the entire time.

Believe it or not, we'd have to go through 4 colossi, maybe more, killing an unpiloted Construct because they defend themselves naturally (unless the pilot dc's and gets ported to some weird room or however that went).

Uh... them defending themselves naturally is really slow, and not at all effective (no girdle or gears or anything), whereas you can go right on through it with girdle & gears up the entire time.
Read that as: I don't believe it. At all. After all, I did 6,000 damage worth to you in what, 20 minutes?
Furien2009-03-16 05:38:41
Alright, exaggeration on my part. Two colossi. While scrolled, the unpiloted one was attacking once every 8 seconds.
