I'm going to bed but before I go, I thought I'd share a revelation this article taught me:

If you're French, you treat a headache with alcohol (if you clean liver isn't behaving, maybe some chemical dirt will help it out!) and if after consuming excessive alcohol you wake up in a strange location in bed with an even stranger person who has kindly infected you with Herpes, fear not - it wasn't the random unprotected sex. It was just your liver.

And people say Americans are strange!

So I decided to look into this a bit more and I found some interesting quotes from Payer L: Medicine and Culture. Varieties of Treatment in the United States, England. West Germany, and France. New York. Henry Holt & Company. 1996. Enjoy. This Lynn Payer woman was quite a character.

Personally, I'm not a med student and I know -nothing- about medicine or the way a human body works, so I try to not pass judgement on medical practices but... I think sometimes the wording of the author could use some work. Like that 'bowel action religious necessity' thing heh.
