Questions:
What does X mean?
W is weapon damage. So if you have a weapon that does 1d6, then 2 deals 2d6.
What does Close Burst X mean? Is this the Close attacks you were referring to in your first post?
Close Burst means that it emanates from your square, and it goes out X squares in every direction. An Area Burst would say "Area Burst X within Y squares." And that would mean you could pick a spot up to Y squares from you, and then the effect would shoot out X squares in every direction from that spot.
Area would draw an Opportunity Attack if you were next to an enemy, but Close would not.
Does going diagonal count as one square, or two squares? <-- For both movement and ranged attacks. And close, if it means what I think it means.
One square.

I didn't think I needed to say no to that.
You can be a Deva or Doppelganger and have multiple personalities though

You still didn't answer my question about backgrounds. And if we are all on the same team (I would think alignment would judge that).

we don't surive if we don't cooperate.
It's a game of survival, so background only matters as much as you want it to.

I wrote it as a joke, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea to try out different races and classes without giving you too much work.
Basically, if I use a day or encounter power, from one char, then I can't use it from the others in that encounter. ( and it sounds like this is just going to be one never ending encounter )
This is what has always frustrated me about DnD, you need lots of people with lots of time to try out various charachters to see what you like.

Dag > Backgrounds are an actual mechanic. They give you a bonus to a skill and sometimes an extra language.
Fania > Sorry, it's a little hectic. Yes, you can take a background if you like. As for being on a team, none of you know eachother (unless some of you set your characters up as being friends or family or whatever. Feel free.) But in general, you're all strangers who get caught up in a zombie-ish apocalpyse.

Dag, how about this--for the first so many encounters, I'll let you change your characters. We'll rationalize it as an NPC coming to the foreground while your old character fades into the background, since there are going to be quite a few survivors in the beginning.
You can switch characters when you take an Extended Rest (so basically, you go to sleep as one charcter and wake up as another).
But within, say, the first five or so IC days, I'd like you to pick one and stick to it. Sound good?
Jack2009-03-18 17:38:55
Sounds awesome to me. I'm getting to work on making like five characters.

However, rule is, if you die on any character, that's the end of the road. This isn't a 5 lives deal. So, to keep switching, you've still got to survive.

No. Don't have to pay. Paying just let's you make character's above level 3.
They may just not have updated the builder with all the PHB2 stuff yet. SOme of the PHB2 stuff was already there from previews and stuff.

Oh, I see. It's fun though!
I'm tempted to go either Ranger or Druid, but I want our 'party' to balance up.

Can only one person play each class? Jack said he wants to be the rogue- can we have two?
