Bug #2422 Resolution: Your bug report has been reviewed and is not considered
a bug. If you feel it is a game balance concern, you should speak to your guild
envoy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------
I couldn't tackle someone out of perfectfifth. I got the message that "You find
you cannot bear to part from person" when I tried to.
-------------
I just tested it, I can't tackle a person into a direction they are blocking,
either. If you want to hear my guess, I think the skil tackle is bugged, not the
other skills (pfifth, block that I know of). Maybe it checks the movement before
the check if the person comes with you or something similar
Someone envoy that, please! It's kind of weird.

Problem being you could break octave p5's with tackle.
Ashteru2009-03-25 22:42:25
Well, you can't tackle in a blocked direction either, I know that isn't that much of an issue, but it's just...weird.

Trade you.
So because Shofangi has a bugged ka cost, I have to wait for Lanfayr to wake up and ask her to envoy this. Seriously, we need some non guild-related envoys.

Shotah in Shofangi is the same as Ninchu in Ninjakari, Kaife in Nekotai, and Tahto'sho in Tahtetso. Two handed attack, raises momentum by two. However, it only requires 175 ka, while the others all require 350. This enables them to use it with no momentum, or level 1 momentum, while the rest of us have to wait until 2 momentum or higher to use it. And if we use it on 2 momentum, we can do little or nothing else because of ka costs, while the Shofangi can use it at no momentum, with a 75 ka mod alongside it, and boost themselves right up to 2 momentum.

If this doesn't work, why can you gust a mage out of Barrier?

First, you're free to go to any envoy you want. Can ask the Celestine or Shadowdancer envoy to envoy this.
Second, this will be moved by the envoys to the monk report, not the monthly reports, since the momentum report is currently being formed.

You can gust a bard out of P5 too, but you can't tackle him.

I don't see why it should be different, though. At least with tackle, you still end up in the other room with the person.

Because tackling someone requires the person being pfifthed to move, while gusting the bard does not.

??? WHAT?
Skill x should work the way skill x works because its the way skill x is working.
the person who does the tackling, moves out of the room AFTER the bard being tackled does. Just like with gust. There has got to be some better reason for why tackle is different than gust outside of a design flaw in the way the skill does the checks.

No no.
Pfifth hinders the movement of the target. Makes it so they can't leave their presence (which in Lusternia, means room).
Tackle requires the target to move, and as such, is stopped.
Gust does not require the target to move, and as such, is not stopped.
That's how I understand it, anyways. Not saying tackle should or should not work.

The more important question here:
Why is that envoy-report worthy instead of a clear bug with a simple fix?
Shaddus2009-03-25 23:15:43
Technically, the tackler isn't leaving the room until after the bard does.

I guess. I'm not really commenting on whether or not it should work, but the possible reasoning behind it.

I agree. I bugged it, and was told to have it envoyed instead.

How do you figure that the tackler isn't moving until after the victim?
I slam my body into you and grab onto you, using my momentum to force you out of the room. Shouldn't it be the exact same time (meaning that you never leave the presence of the octave user)?

I wonder if there would be a similar reaction to, say, Knighthood amputate working on light wounds.

Imagine you're standing in front of a doorway. I move, still in the room, and run at you. I use the force of my movement to push you in front of me, out the door. You are outside the room before I am, I don't leave the room until after you do.

In the most literal sense, yes, but that's entirely pointless nit-picking.
edit: If they say it's not a bug, that means it's not a bug. It's a feature, maybe a crappy feature for you, but a feature. Function over reality. It's the same reason why you can keep your head on straight even if you lose both arms, but god forbid a sword goes through your foot because that's just TOO MUCH.
